He took the greatest military force in world history, lost a war to a middle power in a week, begged the world to save him, and demanded that the media lie about this and everything else. I try, but at a simple human level I do not see how anyone can mistake this man’s almost supernatural weakness for strength. His weakness is something negative, gravitational, so deep that it can draw in a whole country. But only if we fail to see it. Only if we let it.

Frost: I think part of the reason we’re even in this war with Iran is that he’s looking for anything he can do to shift attention away from the fact that not only is he in the Epstein files, but he’s in them a lot, and he had a very close relationship with Epstein. He’s engaged in one of the greatest cover-ups we’ve ever seen from a president.

PabloReports: What do you make of our adversaries using the Epstein files to create this narrative about the war with Iran? Magaziner: Nobody else can seem to figure out why we’re in this stupid war, so I guess that’s as plausible a reason as any. We’re weeks in, Americans have died, gas prices are going through the roof, and the president still can’t tell us why we’re in this war, what the goal is, or how we’re going to get out of it. So their guess is as good as mine.

Ansari: Trump and his administration, including Pam Bondi, have been covering up the Epstein files for over a year now. There is a subpoena by the Oversight Committee, there’s an Epstein Files Transparency Act, and over and over again we’ve seen Trump either refuse to release the files or illegally redact names. There are now very serious allegations against him. This is incredibly serious, and I think Trump would do whatever it takes to distract from this.
