A lot to unpack in just 33 seconds: - Five shots in total. It seems that the sound came from the back of the hall (it happened in the upper floor). - People near the doors, who must have heard those clearly, react immediately. Trump and the rest on stage could have had trouble hearing the shots because of the music playing. - Melania was just realized something was wrong (Secret Service rushing to them from the front), and JD Vance was already being rushed out of the stage. - I think Melania got startled because of the man rushing right in front of them, I don't know if that was Dan Scavino who literally jumped to protect them the moment the shots were fired, but you can see a male figure standing right in front of them, facing the wall, in the clip below right as Melania is startled. - Trump hasn't even flinched yet . Notice that after the zoom out, Melania and Karoline go under the table immediately, Trump just stays there. It's only at 20 seconds after the 5 shots that the Secret Service finally lean into him to rush him out. - Some people have said that Trump 'tripped' when going out but what I see is him most likely helping Melania to her feet, and only then exiting through the left. Again, I'm not an expert but this didn't look like the best way to deal with a situation like this. When someone's rushing with a gun, no matter if they're on a different floor, 20 seconds is an eternity because you can't possibly know in that period of time that it's just one guy.
