New study concluded use of #ModelInformedPrecisionDosing & single-concentration monitoring improved overall outcomes among patients receiving AUC-guided #vancomycin for culture-proven gram-positive infections compared to trough-guided therapy: bit.ly/4aRGPRG @UABMedicine

Guidelines from @acog continue to recommend amp/gent+/-clinda for intraamniotic infections. This observational study in @CIDJournal strongly suggests that cefoxitin would be just as good -- and maybe better. Time for a guidelines change? @julie_justo doi.org/10.1093/cid/ci…

In @OFIDJournal, Nicole Hall, PharmD, and colleagues evaluated the safety and efficacy of AUC-guided vancomycin therapy using MIPD and single-concentration monitoring. Read: idsajournals.link/PyNK9R

Honored to be part of the team that helped make all this possible for our patients and institution. Still much work to do to 📉 unnecessary vancomycin use…but improved safety is reassuring, when use is indicated or not. @SEdwardsPharmD @NicoleHPharmD @UABPharmRes @UAB_ID

✅ Improved safety (⬇️ AKI) ✅ Prompt, individualized treatment ✅ Throughput (⬇️ ICU/hospital LOS) ✅ Simpler operations (pharmacy, nursing, lab) ✅ Better patient satisfaction (not directly assessed, but >1/3 vanc levels did not require an extra blood draw)
