There is culture in small towns. Where I grew up, we had a drinking spot in the woods called “The Falls,” which I assumed, before going there, must be near a waterfall, but actually it was just near a small cliff, next to which was a sign that said “the falls” with a bunch of tally marks

I worked the computer lab in college (mid 80s) for spending money. I have a vivid memory of a girl coming up to the desk and saying that the computer ate her floppy disk (5.25''). I got up and walked to her computer and looked into both disk drives and no disk. She said "No, there" and pointed to a little gap between the drives maybe 1/8th inch wide. She'd inserted the disk *between* the vertically stacked drives and it was now inside the computer. The computer did indeed eat her floppy disk ;)

when I was 11 I babysat my neighbors four daughters and one of them had a tantrum at nine pm and locked herself in the hall bathroom so I went into their garage found their fuse box and tripped all the breakers in the house

@HighHeelEsquire She is THIRTEEN. If she was 16 or 17, yes this would be crazy overbearing. What are they doing at just 13 they don’t want the mom to see? She’s too young to be totally unsupervised. I don’t think this is too much at all. They’re babies.
