@denkmit Thanks for doing the research, I’ve been through 3 or 4 pairs of Bose QC over the years and have wondered if other brands stack up, guess I’ll stick with what I know.

I bought a pair of Sony WH-1000XM5s because all the reviews claimed they were the best noise cancelling headphones ever made. They’re absolute shite, and I spend about 25% of my time reconnecting them to my devices. Avoid them, buy Bose. Wish I had.

@Bird442 @denkmit 10 years at PI as a spectator and the last 10 years as a race official, I’ve also worked at Sepang as a race official since 2017. Go to Sepang, PI is an amazing track but the facilities are prehistoric and accommodation is limited/costly. Sepang has it all.

@denkmit Question Simon. I want to go to either Phillip island or Sepang this year to watch a race. Which one would to you recommend for a newbie to a fly away round, and why? Interested to hear your views. Thanks.

Things I didn't expect to see on the Financial Times homepage this morning: this! (And yes, Pino's gets a mention!)

Seems like there's oil down because of the Morbidelli-Espargaro crash. Less than three laps completed means a full restart. Both Marc and Alex can start, as well as Franco and Aleix

@iboy @denkmit Have you ever read the rules George? Admittedly they aren’t exactly a page-turner but a basic understanding of the sport can improve your enjoyment. Here’s a link below 👇 fim-moto.com/en/documents/v…

@denkmit Both Márquez brothers crash. Red flag. Race stopped. And now they restart the race in the _original_ starting order? What a load of shit for rules.

@denkmit Respectfully, my AU$0.02 counterpoint as someone who has designed hydraulic components for fighter aircraft. The device is not the problem, the failure mode is the problem; designing and implementing a solution without any plan for failure can lead to disaster.

Seriously. What fucking benefit do they bring? None. Yet week after week they endanger riders as well as ruining races like that. A Quartararo win today would have been huge for the sport, yet we've been denied it because of a useless engineering widget. Ban them.

My heart goes out to those affected by the horrific car attack in Zhuhai. It’s also tragic that the story has been shut down. There’s not a single post about it in my WeChat timeline - even from friends who live in Zhuhai. bbc.com/news/articles/…

I reckon you can tell a lot about a racer (and a person) by their phone lock screen. Some have a photo of themselves, some have a photo of their team, some have a photo of their partner and/or kids, and at least one has a photo of their dog 😂

@Spalders @SofaRacer We’ve had quite an American riders before, has the shift been that drastic in recent years that it’ll make a difference this time? Asia is where it’s at, there’s already loads of passionate fans without any rider representation… maybe I just answered my own question?

@SofaRacer Gonna disagree on this one… the sport needs several American riders… then, post Liberty take over.. we might get the recognition.

MotoGP needs an American Rider like a Fish needs a Bicycle. People who should know better need to stop looking West and pining for the past. Look to the future, it faces East.

Told off for swearing on the internet 🤣 Swearing is the spice of language. It adds flavour and seasoning. The only people who complain about it are cut from the same cloth as the Victorian prudes who believed that eating bland food somehow made them better than everyone else 😂

@wearetherace When briefing the technical team (Australia), I make sure to half-jokingly tell them that if they get knocked down and killed in pitlane they won’t be invited back next year. This year I’ll add this scenario.

Can’t recommend this highly enough - an easy-reading broad sweep of history which should be read by many, especially in light of all the talk of Englishness, what it means to be English, what’s our true past etc etc. By the way, the English come from the Angles, a Germanic tribe that conquered Britain centuries ago. ie England = Angle Land

@phil_tutty @motomatters Yes, to be an FIM steward you need to be a national level steward in your country then do the FIM accreditation, in my experience this is usually 5-10 years of experience working at race meetings and I know some great stewards. Of course, some may get *ahem* fast-tracked ;)

@motomatters Is there any actual training to be a steward, or is it just the old boys network creating jobs for friends.

I think we have the solution to the problem of who should be the chief Steward
Andrew Napier@nerdrider

@motomatters They should do what they did for the chequered flag, and pick a fan at random for each event! 🤣

Dorna have corrected the official attendance for the weekend. Was 181,289, not 290+ thousand. Still, best attendance for a decade, and it felt like it. Felt really busy. And the atmosphere was amazing. Anyway, sports attendance figures are done by former Enron accountants.
