Genuinely what is the point of retelling the Harry Potter story again? This isn’t on some hate shit I just really don’t get it

@TheMiddleborne In the films, they started with the robes but ditched them in favour of more characterization/visual storytelling. They were seen less and less as the films went on. This style of robe may allow them to keep robes more consistent, but allow for variety in costuming.

Why are the robes just overcoats?

I don't have a problem with black Snape, I have a problem with zipper Snape. Snape would not wear zippers!

@TheCinesthetic I like the new cupboard design, definitely grimmer. Love the emerald ink on the envelope, nice touch. The castle interiors look really good, I’d like some more colour, but the candlelight looks great. The kids look like they are having fun and are playing around like kids do.

@JTAlexander_ The closest would be the 1970’s. Even then, I think you need the entire decade to compete.

@postmaster_ron 1997-2002 was the greatest five year period in film and I don’t know that there’s any real challenger for that range.

Because we saw it in 1999. You ought consider what it was up against. The standard was simply higher back then. Not to mention comparing it to the Original Trilogy, which was all that existed up to that point…

@PotterWorldW More. I hope they listen to some feedback re colour grading, but I’m actually looking forward to this project now whereas before I was dismissive.

After seeing the trailer, are you MORE or LESS excited about the HBO series?

@TheDailyHPotter A lot better. The movies had the scar very prominent as they wanted to make it iconic. The series benefits from it already being iconic and so can play it down and let it look like an actual scar.

My favorite part of these shows with brown leads is they always, always tank. And let's be real, Hollywood sucks now. With white leads the acting and writing still sucks. But these shows don't last even a season because No one Not even brown people Want to look at brown people

To be honest, I think the only thing I’m not particularly keen on in the trailer for the HARRY POTTER TV series is... the broomsticks But it has to be said that they are much closer to the descriptions made at the time of the books than those in the films 🤷‍♂️

My take on the HBO teaser: Love: -Dominic as Harry -the kids can act -Dursleys esp. Petunia -Snape, McGonagall and Dumbledore -Costumes -Sets -Camerawork Like: -Hagrid (need to hear more) Dislike: -New logo being flat -Broomsticks -Grading (WW needs more colour)

@WW_Direct Maggie Smith did a great job, but didn’t quite capture some of book McGonagall. In the books, she is younger, a little more severe and a little more guarded. It will be interesting to see the shows take.

@GunnerDobbins I’m very interested in how Lithgow will play it. Albus never felt right to me on screen. Too grave and lacking the childlike whimsy, but at the same time not projecting the commanding power that Harry senses (and later sees).
