@BarstoolHubbs The answer could be both bc this franchise played Rizzo for the balance of the season despite post-concussion syndrome. Their medical staff & decision-making is an abomination

Let’s recap Volpe’s 2025 season
We know him as a super streaky hitter while healthy with elite defense and SB ability.
Volpe clearly hurts his shoulder on May 3 on a dive while playing defense. Everyone sees it. Clearly was in pain.
Offense and defense tanks from that point on. Fans jump on him. Team ignores injury, doesn’t even get a suitable substitute (Caballero) until end of July.
Volpe gets cortisone shot in September and misses one week. Caballero hits .350 in that span with a 1.031 OPS.
Boone reiterates that Volpe is good physically, not using injury as excuse
Volpe returns after that and regains starting shortstop job throughout the rest of the season including playoffs.
Goes 5 for 26 in October, including 11 strikeouts vs. Toronto.
Now Volpe gets labrum surgery and I’m guessing they’ll use it as an excuse to start him next year.
So which one is it? Did he suck this year because he’s sucked at the plate for three years? If so why go into another year of this. Or did the injury impact him and they played him through it for no reason, hurting the team.
I hate this franchise

@JeffPassan It was two outs, and first base would have been a force, so runner wouldn't have scored?

@pinstripealley Old Yankee playing against us, already won the series, and Schmidt coming back to take Warren's spot, saw this day coming unfortunately.
