Talking of snow, on this day in 1982 it started snowing in Wales for 36 hours!

@DerekTheWeather @ECMWF Hi Derek, HNY. You have previously issued an article on the variables/factors we need in south wales to get heavy snow. I think it centred on what happened in 1982, and all the factors that aligned for that to happen. Any chance you could reshare? Many thanks, Rees

Rain from Storm Goretti will spread NE tomorrow. As this hits colder air & the rain intensity increases, the freezing level will lower and turn the rain increasingly to snow. @ECMWF model snow depths look over done but a big dump likely on some hills. Stronger winds too! ⚠️🌧️🌨️🌬️

@DerekTheWeather Morning Del, never known so many intensive downpours. Normally have 1 , but there were multiple over many days. Whats causing the intensity?

A soggy September so far! 178mm of rain in Cardiff so far this month. More than double the average (86mm) and more rain than the whole summer (111mm). More rain over the weekend. Sunday brighter and cooler with scattered showers. Next week much drier thanks to high pressure.
