☀️Catching up with a radio legend! Derek and I join Roy Noble on his show to talk heatwaves. 📈 It’s fifty years since the record-breaking summer of 1976. Looking back at that memorable heatwave, and how recent ones compare. 📻 BBC Radio Wales from 5-7pm, Sunday and BBC Sounds.

More dry weather and sunshine on Saturday but some cloud moving south as well. The AROME model highlights the risk of showers tomorrow afternoon mainly in parts of mid, east & southeast Wales. Locally heavy. Any showers will die away in the evening leaving a dry & cooler night.

@TweetsinEpping Thanks Terry. The Met Office says the present-day CET is calculated from weather stations located at Stonyhurst (Lancashire), Rothamsted (Hertfordshire), and Pershore (Worcestershire). Not sure how built-up these places are.

@DerekTheWeather The area I mischievously call middle England. Suspect with the population build up now the "town" effects that you get have spread to the new towns. No longer rural climates. Was brought up in the countryside in Bucks then we got gifted the new town of Milton Keynes. Moved away.
