The Transformative Power of Sport Sports have the unique power to forge identity and legacy. Iconic figures like Pelé and Plato - originally named Edson Arantes do Nascimento and Aristocles - carried names earned through athletic prowess rather than birth. This reveals a profound truth: sports are not merely entertainment; they are a crucible for character and excellence. With this in mind, I arrived early in Ibadan today and observed the ongoing clean-up exercise. I parked beside the Lekan Salami Stadium, where groups of young people were actively engaged in basketball, lawn tennis, handball, and judo. It was uplifting to witness their discipline and energy. Such scenes reflect progress and offer a powerful glimpse into the immense potential of our youth. I made it a point to stop and encourage them because sports are more than just a game - they are a lifeline as well as a critical sector that deserves greater investment and support. For these young men, sports serve as a powerful engine for social mobility and personal reinvention. By instilling relentless discipline and teamwork, the field becomes a space where they can transcend their circumstances, sharpen their resolve, and transform their raw potential into a lasting legacy of excellence. A new Nigeria is Possible. -PO

“Nigeria is becoming a joke. We are still talking about BON Bread suing a lady over her review, and now there is another case of a young mother receiving calls from lawyers because of her review about a topic she saw in her toddler’s textbook, which she described as toxic. They have made the police look like a joke in this country, and now they are moving to the legal department, which is quite unfortunate. Any small thing, lawyers want to sue. Is that what they are now teaching in law school? If a client brings a case to you, why can’t you simply advise your client? Soon people may stop respecting Nigerian lawyers because of the way things are going.” — A lady laments

I transferred ₦100,000 to my barber because he said ₦80,000 was expensive. Pure pride. Nothing else. 😂 I went to cut my hair without my clippers. Noticed his clipper set, gold-plated. Clean and Sharp. Told him to get me one like that from the market. He looked at me carefully. "Oga that clipper is expensive o." Something woke up inside me. "Expensive how much?" "₦80,000." My pride collected that personally. "So ₦80,000 is what you call expensive ?" Brought out my phone. Transferred ₦100,000 on the spot. "Buy the clipper. Keep the change." Since that day anytime he sees me around the estate "Chairman! Chairman!"😌 Every single time. Ego is expensive. But sometimes it buys you a title. Nonsense, I don't like what I hate. 😌😂
