My best tip for anyone trying to get back into reading is to remember that you can read books to avoid other responsibilities in your life, and it can become a vice if you play your cards right.

It’s a weird statement to make. I have never understood the intent other than to coerce or assume control. It’s only applied in certain situations to benefit the person who invokes it. But not others.
Anyhoo this has reminded me why I stopped posting on Twitter for so long. Ick.

I understand you have EQ. But the I am a taxpayer line is tired and works against your interests. That’s all.

I am compiling a list of questions to evaluate kindergarten programs. So I googled for inspo, and found quite a few threads from teachers on reddit saying that it is annoying when parents have a list of questions at orientation and that isn't the time to ask. So can you ask? 😳

@ZillennialApple @KristyT I’ve been teaching 25 and in a public district ranked top 50 in the country. Trust there are a lot of questions. And that’s not a bad thing. Partnership is key!! Sorry you don’t have that. That said parents could do so much for their kids simply by reading with them every night.

That said, schools do a lot of outreach and before parents set the expectation of speaking with administration on every ? it would help to be sure some of the questions or concerns haven’t already been answered by existing documents/communications.

@KristyT @ZillennialApple with another comment here to feel it out first and try to get a sense of how things work and then allow your questions to build from there. Also keeping in mind some of the questions may just be for you and not the teachers. It’s a process and not an easy one. Trusting someone…
