@simonhigson @OpenCourt This can't be the reason though. IW is the only M1000 to cut prize money this year. All others, including another two American events in Miami and Cincy, are increasing their prize money.

I’ve noticed that the prize money is lower at several tournaments this year - including Rio. Which is down more than $100k
But those are “total financial commitment” numbers I think. Which includes other elements than just prize money.

This year's edition of ATP Acapulco is gonna be slimmed down. Not only is prize money reduced by 4.5% compared to last year — there will be NO MEAT served at the tournament!

@OpenCourt Nope, it's on-site prize money that is down. Last year the champion got $483,515, 1R losers — $20,165. This year they will get $461,835 and $19,260 respectively.

What is not exactly clear to me is what Bublik needs to do to reach #10.
New rule allows a player who missed two consecutive M1000s due to injury to replace 0-pointer with another 500/250 result. Bublik did miss Canada and Cincy. If this rule applies, he only needs to beat Giron.

@AnnaK_4ever Of course :). Stay tuned for some changes soon that will make it much easier to track. Up until now profit sharing numbers are added to career prize money totals. They don’t go into YTD totals as they apply to the prior year by the time they are finalised…

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics puts Nov 2025 to Nov 2019 $ inflation at 26% which means top men's players in 2025 earn LESS than in 2019 while earnings of mid/lower ranked guys outpace inflation.

This is correct 👇. The rankings used for acceptance lists into AO will be based off this past Monday’s official year-end rankings. This change is aimed at reducing pressure on players to chase points at challenger level during the ATP Tour off-season.

@gasparlanca I don't but I have a theory: This way they kind of extending off-season for Top 200/250 players who now has no reason to kill themselves in second half of November and first half of December at Challengers/ITFs to try to gain ground on each other in order to make the AO cut.

Little-known fact: while the last spot in the race to Turin takes the spotlight this week, a Top 30 year-end finish also matters. It grants entry into any ATP 500 event the following season, regardless of any drop in ranking.

@ericsalliot Combination of reasons…some entry/withdrawal issues in recent years in the week after Paris, the change will provide a ‘cleaner’ finish line in Paris for fans and players, and also allows all qualified players to arrive and prepare in Turin in the same manner.

Reminder of an update coming into play from 2026: points in the week following Paris will only count towards the Race for the following year. So the Race for qualification will finish in Paris.
