@MartienBall INEOS and crew shot themselves on the foot with their over confidence. If Fernandez goes to Spurs, let see the garbage they would sign. First target gone now second about to slip away from them.

What exactly do INEOS want though? They paid £40m for a 27 year old SQUAD player, yet they expect to get their top target for £50-60m? Are they serious? I’ve said before that paying £80m for a Championship player is ridiculous, but I hope they understand they aren’t getting Tchouameni for anything less than that. They promised a “marquee” signing, but you’re definitely not getting one for £60m.

Manchester United Forever
🚨In one of Manchester United’s most important transfer windows in years, INEOS seem determined not to pay “over the odds” while every major rival is spending aggressively. • Elliot Anderson? Too expensive. • Sandro Tonali? Too expensive. • Mateus Fernandes? Reluctant to meet the asking price. Meanwhile: • Man City are ready to spend £120m on Anderson and are monitoring Tonali. • Spurs are willing to pay £100m for Tonali and £85m for Mateus Fernandes. • Liverpool have spent heavily last year and are reportedly ready to go again with Yan Diomande. • Arsenal are prepared to spend around £100m on Morgan Rogers. At some point, if you want elite players, you have to pay elite prices. Manchester United cannot keep watching top targets slip away while rivals strengthen. We will never close the gap on our rivals if we refuse to spend. This is the new reality of football. Look across Europe — clubs like Real Madrid and FC Barcelona are having €150m bids rejected and still remain in the race because they understand that’s the market. Elite players cost elite money. That’s not changing anytime soon. The club needs to wake up — and it needs to happen now.

@AdamJoseph Tchouameni is Ugarte 2.0. We need a EPL proven player and not someone whom would take time to adapt to the league. Why can't we put in 68 plus add on since we've missed out on Anderson. Seems we keep identifying players for other clubs to sign @ManUtd

I don't know what will happen with Mateus Fernandes, but we'll find out pretty soon. I've always felt he was the 'can't miss signing' of this summer like Mbeumo was. Even if it's because the fee has become way overpriced, it'd be disappointing to miss out on him. If Manchester United do walk away, the due diligence on other players (in a deep CM market) better be ready to act upon, because if you're missing out on priority targets eventually you're giving yourself far less margin for error as you move down your list. Next few/several days the pace will pick up, no doubt.
Ben Jacobs@JacobsBen

Spurs are in advanced talks with Mateus Fernandes as they rival Manchester United for the West Ham midfielder. Fernandes is one of Tottenham's top targets, as exclusively revealed. West Ham seeking £80m-£85m, around double what they paid to Southampton. An incoming £90m shareholder cash injection is likely to leave West Ham in a stronger negotiating position. Manchester United are also in talks with both Fernandes and West Ham. Spurs are also rivalling Manchester City for Sandro Tonali. And Spurs, Manchester United and Arsenal all have Alex Scott on their radar, who Bournemouth hope signs a new deal. Movement expected now in the next days/weeks on all fronts as clubs enter into the new financial year.⚒️

@MickRuby_MURTV Why is @ManUtd quite? Don't they want to sign players quickly so that they can go on pre season after the world cup. We need to sort out the midfield problem immediately since it's our top priority.

And has it occurred to anyone that Spurs could also be using Matheus Fernandes as leverage to put pressure on Newcastle? 👀 Their MAIN target is . 🎯 Tonali Newcastle already rejected their opening £75m bid. ❌💰 Now suddenly all this noise around Fernandes, Spurs “leading”, and willingness to go over £85m for West Ham’s valuation yet put a bid for 75 m for Tonali 🤔 Seen these negotiation tactics too many times. Create pressure. Force movement. Shift the market. 📈🎭 This window is far from straightforward. ⏳🔥 #MUFC #THFC #NUFC #Tonali #MatheusFernandes #Transfers

🚨📢 Something about today’s #MatheusFernandes media narrative doesn’t add up. @MatteMoretto was the ONLY journalist reporting Spurs were close on personal terms. ✍️ Since then? Silence. 🤐 ❌ No major follow-up ❌ No concrete progression ❌ No widespread confirmation on the player side Yet suddenly Spurs are being framed as “leading” simply because they’re willing to meet West Ham’s £85m valuation. 💰🏦 But here’s the part many are ignoring 👇 West Ham will always sell to the highest bidder. 💵📈 That does NOT mean the deal is advanced. ❌ The player decides where he wants to go. 🎯⚽ We literally saw this with Benjamin Šeško and Newcastle. 👀 Newcastle pushed hard 💪, had club momentum 📊, but without the player’s green light 🟢 the whole story collapsed. 💥 This feels very similar. 🔄 And one more thing… 👇 As things stand, Manchester United remain the ONLY club understood to have agreed personal terms with the player 🤝🔴 and are also in advanced negotiations with West Ham. 📞📋 That’s why this sudden Spurs “leading” narrative doesn’t fully add up. 🤔👀 The player’s decision will decide everything. ⏳🎯 #MUFC 🔴 #THFC#Transfers 💣

@Nuel006 Players from EPL will always be expensive. United should've known this and place their bid. The hierarchy are just reluctant about solving the midfield problem. Now all their targets are slipping away from them. Let's see how they cope next season.

Man City paid £100m for Grealish. Arsenal paid £105m for Declan Rice. Chelsea paid £106m for Enzo & £115m for Caicedo. Liverpool paid £116m for Wirtz & £125m for Isak. All of these teams have won the Premier League in the last 13 years while we haven’t. Three of them have won the Champions League, and one has the ONLY Club World Cup, all while spending big. Yet Manchester United ACCOUNTANTS think INEOS shouldn’t pay £85m for Mateus Fernandes. We’re not ready to win anything, and I truly feel sorry for Carrick. He deserved better.

Manchester United didn't sign the wrong player. They created the wrong environment for the player they signed. Manuel Ugarte arrived as one of Europe's most aggressive ball-winning midfielders. At Sporting CP and Paris Saint-Germain, his job was simple: recover possession, break up attacks, cover space, and allow more creative players to dictate the game. Yet at United, he has often been asked to do the opposite. The problem is that Ugarte is not a deep-lying playmaker. He isn't Rodri. He isn't Toni Kroos. He won't complete 100 passes or control the rhythm of every match. That was never the player United paid over £40 million for. This has become a familiar story at Old Trafford. The club repeatedly buys specialists and then asks them to become something else. Donny van de Beek was not a holding midfielder. Fred was not a tempo-setter. Schneiderlin was not a creative passer. Now Ugarte faces the same problem. His strengths are obvious: 🛡️ Ball winning ⚔️ Defensive duels 🏃 Covering ground 💪 Aggression and intensity His weakness is equally obvious: progressive passing under pressure. The worrying part is the lack of trust shown toward him late in the season. Being left out repeatedly suggests the club may not see him as a long-term solution. But perhaps the bigger question is this: Did Ugarte fail Manchester United? Or did Manchester United once again fail to build a midfield that suits the player they bought? Because sometimes the problem isn't recruitment. It's the plan that comes after it.

Charles Aniagolu: Peter Obi says insecurity is worsening, yet the presidency insists it is improving. If security is truly getting better, how do you explain the continuous kidnappings, attacks on communities, and even the killing of military generals? Bayo Onanuga: The opposition is creating the impression that the country has been completely overrun by insecurity. I travel by road regularly and have found it to be safe. In many cases, these attacks occur at night, and the government has repeatedly advised citizens to avoid traveling at night. 😓😓

Bayo Onanuga, engaged in a tense argument with anchor Charles Aniagolu during a discussion on the president’s campaign statement: “If I don’t give you electricity, don’t vote for me.” Rather than directly addressing the question about the promise and its delivery amid ongoing power challenges, Onanuga reportedly pressed Aniagolu to complete the full quote himself. A visibly confused Aniagolu declined and urged Onanuga to finish the statement

🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Manchester United remain in active negotiations for Mateus Fernandes and are prepared to meet West Ham’s valuation under the right structure. 🔴 Our sources close to the club indicate Matt Hargreaves is playing a key role in negotiations, expertly managing discussions to ensure United reach a fair price, valuation, and payment structure. While West Ham are keen to spark a bidding war, Hargreaves’s approach is focused on maintaining discipline and securing terms that align with United’s long-term strategy rather than overpaying. Sources also suggest recent internal personnel changes at West Ham have impacted the process and timing of discussions. Despite the noise around Tottenham, there is still NO agreement on personal terms on that side. United remain calm and strategic, with the new financial year in July expected to be key for movement. More to follow. 👀 #MUFC #MatheusFernandes

🚨Just In and On✅ Manchester United are confident behind the scenes of landing Mateus Fernandes. West Ham need to generate funds before June 30, and United know time is on their side. ⏳ There are also discussions around winger Crysencio Summerville as part of a wider financial package deal. The strategy is similar to what United did with Bayern Munich for Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, working on two players from the same club to create better value and structure. 🔴 One to watch. #MUFC #MateusFernandes #CrysencioSummerville #MatthijsDeLigt #NoussairMazraoui
