@thakicker11 He shouldn’t be coaching women’s anything ever again! U got to be kidding me!!
English

@cmccoy819 @Catbird70353124 @HoltzHeroes @MuffetMcGraw The whatabouism is wild. Grow up. We all saw what happened but for some reason, some of you can’t acknowledge what happened. Weird.
English

@Catbird70353124 @smctalks @HoltzHeroes @MuffetMcGraw Did yall ask dawn to apologize to BYU? Look that up and get back with le

"You can't claim to be the face of the game and then walk off when things don't go your way. These players deserve the spotlight, not a sideline circus."- @MuffetMcGraw
💙💛

English

@GregBerge Ahh, so he’s the martyr protecting his players by lying and making things up. Got it.
English

The reality?
This wasn't about a handshake. This was about Geno protecting his players.
He was turning the focus away from his players, who just lost an undefeated season.
He did not want them to get blasted by the media.
So he took it on himself.
It's happened before.

Geno Auriemma exchanged words with Dawn Staley in the final seconds of South Carolina and UConn’s Final Four matchup.
English

@mlmyer @smctalks @HoltzHeroes @MuffetMcGraw Rebecca didn't say a peep! Ryan her fellow broadcaster did all the talking, she offered no commentary! Not even a response of shock 🙄
English

@UConnWBB Unacceptable. Your apology should’ve as loud as the disrespect. Loser.
English

@DreAllDay 2/2. This isn’t a one off. A one off is a moment. We’ve seen this for YEARS, and multiple times with female coaches. This..is a pattern. Perhaps go back to the Pat Summit days. She was 1000% right about him. Please don’t dismiss this as just a moment. It’s who he is!
English

Geno Auriemma’s exchange with Dawn Staley is being framed as an identity story.
It isn’t.
Frustration is universal — it doesn’t belong to any race or gender.
This was a frustrated coach coming off a loss, with multiple issues boiling over in a public moment.
The identities involved make for a compelling narrative.
They don’t make it the cause.
English

@DreAllDay 1/2. Not true. We all can understand frustration. What we don’t understand is the lack of accountability, lying, then doubling down on the lie. Coaching kids is a wild profession for someone to not exercise the same behaviors being taught. But he also acts this way with women.
English

@TheAfrocentricI It’s a UCONN thing for sure bc that other coach on the men’s side is a complete child!
English

We moved on from this way too quickly.
John Mathias@johnmathias
The University of Connecticut does a poor job of emphasizing sportsmanship for their basketball coaches.
English

@Shazam2k15 @DElliotWoods @jemelehill No. What u call out is what happened. That’s the problem. I don’t care about their daily experience. Wrong is wrong. Can’t coach young people and expect them to be accountable, when u can’t be!
English

@smctalks @DElliotWoods @jemelehill That’s not what his current and former players say. That’s not what GM’s who draft his players say. His former players say what you see on TV, and what they experience daily, is completely different.
English

@RealMrJuco @Rosa_taxidriver I agree!! And that’s on the big girl to deal and get position! U never let a guard take away your position in the post! That’s a cardinal sin!
English

@smctalks @Rosa_taxidriver that's good physical post defense ..... calling a foul there is an insult to competition
English

This the shit geno was talking about.. call the foul ref lol
ESPN@espn
5'9" Raven Johnson face-guarding 6'2" Sarah Strong 🍿
English

@RealMrJuco @annabethpond3 What did she say, bc if it’s anything how she was talking about the game I doubt she said what needed to be said, not just what was comfortable.
English

@smctalks @annabethpond3 Lobo actually did at the beginning of the Texas Ucla broadcast
English

@KingZaricor @byBDavis @newyscruggs He was. He was ALL smiles. Standing there looking like gaslighting. Gosh, he makes me sick.
English

@smctalks @byBDavis @newyscruggs He was asking Dawn for a hug last year when he won, I’m still UConn all day but my goodness, he’s showing his true colors as of late
English

@KingZaricor @byBDavis @newyscruggs He’s been this way for quite a few years. Whining about the transfer portal, NIL. He complains about everything but it was all good when he benefited.
English

@smctalks @byBDavis @newyscruggs Ughhh don’t make me agree with you 😂 for real tho, as a huge UConn and Geno fan…that was embarrassing to watch. He has had such a great career and ruined it overnight. Childish is the best way to describe it
English

@_dawnmontgomery Bc he knows he lying! Lol. This is the height of white male fragility
English

Who’s the messiest bitch you know? A MAN.
SOOOOO he provoked her and intentionally did this to get her out of character. OMG
The Sporting News@sportingnews
Geno Auriemma doesn't elaborate on what happened during the exchange with Dawn Staley. "I said what I had to say."
English

@Treg2Cole Complete crash out. She was his asst coach and he says we have nothing in common. We have no relationship. This type of white male fragility should be studied
English

@RGIII That’s not what he was referring to. He’s talking about the traditional one where the announcer calls out both names and they meet at the halfcourt mark. Sportscenter showed it and he was waiting there for a bit…
English

@_iamtetee So it’s a female thing?? He never has that energy for male coaches. Just the women. But Pat Summit was definitely right about him
