@francisIangdon Wondering if this interaction is based on untelevised “scenes” — writers assuming that we know that lots could be happening where we aren’t watching. Also, Langdon has to suspect that he has been a topic of conversation at Casa Santos. Maybe that affects his interactions?

@MIKHAILOsipov8 @iky_fwjett @dysangelistes At that point, it may only be a small percentage of the employees regular salary. I am appalled that a company large enough to offer paid time off does not have a leave bank from which workers can draw in these circumstances.

@MIKHAILOsipov8 @iky_fwjett @dysangelistes In some circumstances, the complications of chemotherapy could lead a person to qualify for short term disability. Even in that circumstance, unfortunately, there may be a 90 or 180 day waiting period before the disability kicks in.

I have a coworker who recently passed away from breast cancer. She was an extremely hard worker and the sole wage earner for her family. She would pull 12 hour shifts 6 days a week. She recently started doing chemo for breast cancer while maintaining that level of work. She was clearly not doing well. Me and my coworkers tried to donate some of our PTO to her so that she could just go do her chemo and not have to worry about money. Corporate told us that this is not allowed. They dragged their feet on approving her medical leave and she ended up working several weeks WHILE DOING CHEMOTHERAPY. By the last shift that she worked, she could barely walk and had trouble speaking, AND STILL WORKED A 13 HOUR SHIFT. We recently heard from her family that she passed away due to complications from chemotherapy. I am really sickened by this situation. I cannot say for sure that she would have survived if she didn't feel like she had had to work, but corporate should have immediately approved her medical leave so that she could have just focused on her treatment.

@MaskedHottiee @duckholeo She might not have had time available for the full scan if your appointment was made for a specific concern. Scheduling timelines are pretty tight now, given decreases in provider reimbursement. That being said, your Derm should have advised you to make a follow-up appointment.

@duckholeo My dermatologist barely wanted to look at my scalp. I was there for hair loss. I asked her about checking my body bc I read that they do that online to make sure there's no skin cancer and she brushed me off

@Gorgood66 @DecodingFoxNews In many English speaking countries, Whit Monday (sounds like Wet Monday) is the day after Pentecost. Having a similarly named Polish holiday would be cool.

@DecodingFoxNews I coached a Polish exchange student and she told us about Wet Monday which is the Monday after Easter. I thought she was making it up, but sure enough it's a thing. We had a practice that day and they were running around with Gatorade bottles squirting each other

@DecodingFoxNews Some places in Europe also celebrate the Monday after Pentecost . Whit Monday follows Whitsunday. We Catholics have still got little compared with our Jewish and Chinese brethren in terms of holidays and festivals, but we do make “a good faith” effort. 😉

Our parents may have walked to school in the snow, uphill both ways, barefoot, but... As a Gen Xer, I've walked like an Egyptian, moonwalked, walked this way, walked on the wild side, walked on sunshine, walked the line, and walked 500 miles. I've walked a lot. I'm tired.

@PJFave @DrNeilStone There are several very effective bacterial vaccines, starting with the one everyone has heard of and no one seems to refuse after an injury: the Tetanus shot (Td, DTaP, or TDaP formulations.)

@DrNeilStone Vaccines are not effective against the plague, dude. It was/is a bacterial disease, not a virus. If you don’t know the difference it should tell potential patients all they need to know 😬

@JeromeAdamsMD I worked with that SC Epi team for 11 years, during which we had a smattering of possible and fewer confirmed measles cases. Almost all were related to unvaccinated international travelers. The team’s hard work, dedication, ingenuity, and persistence merit deep appreciation.

A number of replies to my post below ask “how do 20 measles hospitalizations = $35 million in cost?” The total cost of an outbreak goes far beyond hospitalizations alone. The majority of the expense actually comes from public health response efforts and not just downstream medical care for those that get really sick. For every confirmed measles case, public health teams have to conduct detailed case investigations, identify and notify contacts, and monitor those individuals for symptoms. Anyone who is unvaccinated and exposed often has to be quarantined or excluded from work or school for a period of time. That requires significant staffing, coordination, and resources. There are also broader economic impacts. People who are quarantined may miss work, parents may have to stay home with children who are excluded from school, and workplaces and schools can be disrupted. All of that adds indirect costs on top of the direct public health spending. So while only a small number of people may be hospitalized, every single case triggers a cascade of response activities and economic consequences. That’s why outbreaks can become so expensive so quickly - and why preventing even a single case through vaccination saves both public health resources and taxpayer money. Signed: someone who used to run a state health department, and actually investigated infectious disease outbreaks…
Jerome Adams@JeromeAdamsMD

A measles outbreak in South Carolina (993 cases, 20 hospitalizations, 5 months) cost an estimated $35.5M- about 6.7% of the state public health budget! Vaccinating the same group? Just $66K–$134K. Every $1 spent on vaccines could’ve saved $536. Prevention isn’t just smarter- it’s dramatically cheaper. Put another way, more measles outbreaks means higher taxes - for everyone. 🤷🏽‍♂️ americanactionforum.org/weekly-checkup…

Rough game for @GamecockWBB FAMS, down 29 at the end of Q3, and going home as Runner Up for the 2nd year in a row. Props to #Betts and @UCLAWBB on a dominating run thru #MarchMadness. Still, all the other fan bases and teams are watching the #Natty from their couches.

@theblockspot @wheelsfelloff_ Giving UConn a bit more credit, let’s go back to the 2015-2016 season. I’m seeing parity. UCONN WBB SINCE 2015: • 371-32 • 9 Final 4s • 2 Natty Wins, 1 loss SOUTH CAROLINA WBB SINCE 2015: • 356- 37 • 7 Final 4s • 3 Natty Wins, 1 loss AI thinks Carolina wins it all. 😉

@Vabchheel @JReidESPN Is it possible that he got his games mixed up? He was already “mad as a wet hen” )or insert your fave colloquialism)!by Q3. We (USC) have had 3 high-stakes match-ups with UConn in the past several seasons. 2022 Natty — SCar won. 2025 Natty — UConn won. 2026 FF — SCar won.

@MikeBales We have ambulance chasing attorneys in our area with phone numbers that are all 9s (999-9999), all 7s and all 2s. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t know what area codes to use if i needed to make those calls, so I’d be back to calling Jenny. Or, for a local plumbing company: 732-DRIP.
