A friend messaged to check on me. Turns out he lived through a similar Israeli massacre in Beirut in July 1981. This was BEFORE Hezbollah existed. The Israelis are traumatizing, terrorizing and mass murdering generation after generation. If your state requires endless genocidal violence against your neighbors, you don’t deserve to have it.

A year and a half ago, the occupying army allowed us to return from southern Gaza to the north, after we had all been displaced to the south, and after it had leveled our homes to the ground and completely destroyed them, following its withdrawal from most northern areas. At that time, we clung to one illusion: that the displacement was over, and that this would be the last time we were uprooted from our land. But this illusion did not last long; after only a few months, the occupying army returned to advance once again, issuing warnings not to remain in northern Gaza, forcing us into displacement once more. Since that moment until now, my family and I remain displaced, trapped in an unending exile, deprived of returning to our city and our homes, as if we have no homeland.

602 trucks entered Gaza today with essential supplies for families who have waited too long. This is what scaled access looks like, and it must become the daily baseline, not the exception. This was made possible through intensive engagement by my team, @NCAG and @BoardOfPeace. I am grateful to everyone who made it happen. It is important to sustain these efforts and all sides must honour the ceasefire commitment in full.
