Call me a lefty but I actually don't agree with this "value of your labor" thing I keep hearing. I actually think working full time ANYWHERE should at least afford you an apartment in the city you're working. I don't think that's particularly radical.

"It's not society's job to get you employment or a wife" But it kind of is? If a man is not allowed to participate in a social enterprise, given no access to the fruits of its economy or its women, then he's not a member of it and does not have any obligations to it

Like WOW I can't believe none of us ever thought of that. I'm glad the boomers are still around to tell us this or we'd go extinct.

I really love this idea that the ONLY reason young people aren't getting married, having kids, or are able to find a place to live, is because they eat out too much and don't want to move to a cheaper area. It's genuinely hilarious.

Wait until you run up against IRMAA surcharges and RMDs and SSA-44s. Then you'll know what "rigged against you" means. Seriously, we only give advice about not being stupid when you're buying $28 lunches or equivalent. Our real advice is to stop being a whiner, stop thinking you're a victim of a rigged system, live within your means and get to work improving your situation. Good grief. You think the system is unfair? No. It doesn't give a flying fuck about you. You have the same challenges and the same opportunity as everybody else. You can sink or you can swim.

I like how every mention of "the economic system is rigged against us" is IMMEDIATELY met with tons of boomers ready to give you advice for all the hypothetical ways they imagine you're being careless and stupid.

If I see one more beans, rice, kraft singles and toast post, I'm going to go full communist. Maybe the government or employers need to start offering lunch and housing to their employees. Maybe our money should go to a program that does that instead of social security or israel.

Trial and error they'll figure it out. A compassionate and moral society would be interested in facilitating young families whatever the cost, or whatever the difference to how things were even 10 years ago.

Shockingly, nature is very resilient. In the face of great obstacles it finds a way. No amount of "you kids don't know what you're doing, here's how we did it in my day" changes the new realities for young people today.
