Hosted Network Lab Tokyo #2 last night.
15 people. Tiny cafe in Shibuya. No slides. No pitches.
We argued about which apps shouldn't exist anymore. Where to invest during a war economy. What to actually build with AI.
The best networking events don't feel like networking events.

@janwhyy @theleague Felt like just another vibe coded app tbh! DM for the referral.

new dating app in the market, seeing it everywhere, who's giving me a referral? Let's try @theleague

@Kenu73 My sister got a 5yr multi entry Japan tourist visa with just 2-3 asian country history recently.

@harnidhish Exactly like Product Managers, sometimes they are running the show, sometimes just managing meetings 🫣

Every breakthrough followed the same pattern:
Try. Fall. Learn something you couldn't learn any other way.
No amount of tutorials replaces the first fall. No amount of case studies replaces a failed launch. No amount of networking replaces a cold pitch that gets ignored.
The real learning starts the moment you stop preparing and start moving.

@championswimmer Exactly, the company budget for claude models is a god send 🤫

@quentinbdb @CafeLearner For foreigners you need residence card to prove being a resident. Most banks dont serve tourists in most countries. Not just Japan.
English

@thisUmang @CafeLearner Oh interesting, I have phone number and address. So no residence card needed?
What online banks you suggest?
English

Opening a bank account in Japan as a foreigner is way more complicated than you’d think.
You’ll need:
• Residence card (在留カード)
• Proof of address (住民票) from city hall
• Personal seal (印鑑/hanko) — yes, an actual stamp with your name
• My Number card (depending on the bank)
• Sometimes proof of employment or student status
Japan Post Bank and Prestia SMBC are usually foreigner friendly if you’re struggling.
Please get your hanko made ASAP. You’ll need it for literally everything here.
