Dr Bashir A. Veeri broke down in the Assembly a few minutes ago while explaining how the current reservation policy has been affecting merit in Kashmir. He was only asking that the bill be introduced. When Minister Sakina Ittoo opposed its introduction, he demanded that the matter be put to a vote. At that point, Omar Abdullah stood up from his seat and arrogantly stated that they would oppose the bill. Let the people of Jammu & Kashmir see this—whom they have elected as their Chief Minister.

MLA Dr. Bashir Ahmad Veeri became emotional in the Assembly while speaking on the reservation issue in Kashmir. He said the current policy is affecting merit and urged that his bill be introduced. However, the bill was opposed and later defeated, with only four members from the JKPDP supporting it.

The Govt keeps dangling ‘rationalization’ of the reservation policy while systematically sidelining Kashmiri-speaking Youth . In the J&K Assembly, my question was brushed aside with a hollow line: “pending before competent authority.” Which authority? Where is it? What JKPSC cleverely tries to hide & the result clearly reveals is a blatant REGIONAL BIAS. Out of 90 only 17 have made it from Kashmir Division with all top 10 being from Jammu. Even a top UPSC ranked candidate from kashmir couldn't clear JKPSC's rigged exam. #OverhaulJKPSC
