Taught the word "passenger princess" to a staff member and fellow customer at a lesbian bar last weekend and it took them less than a minute to coin パッセプリ as a Japanese abbreviation for it.

not a value judgment, and obviously everybody cares about the streamers -as well as- the brand, but if your oshi is let go and you still show up for the next round of debuts then, well...

not to be too cynical but the point of their business model is to ensure they can let whoever go whenever. fans would need to care more about the streamers than about the brand for that to change and, by and large, they don't. if they did they would watch streamers, not hololive

There are several reasons for its Mixed rating on Steam, and one of them is the bizarre decision of the company to send DMCA notices to players criticizing the absence of Chloe Price, the protagonist's love interest in the original game, on Reddit. Despite that, Double Exposure got the Social Impact Award at GDC 2025, which "advances equality, justice, intersectionality, and/or sustainability," but there was nobody to receive it. "I sit backstage at these gaming award shows, interviewing winners as they come through with their trophies. Nearly every game that won had people coming through, beaming with their trophy in hand. It stood out that, for Life is Strange, which won the Social Impact award, there was no one," said journalist Stephen Totilo. So what happened? The answer is quite tragic: the developers had been let go. "It's fitting that nobody was there to accept the GDCA award that Double Exposure won, because we all got laid off lol … (Don't be sad for me, I am very lucky and I work on BitLife now and I love it)," former Deck Nine narrative designer and writer Elizabeth Ballou shared (via PC Gamer.) Developer Deck Nine suffered two waves of layoffs last year, the most recent being in December due to "deteriorating market conditions in the gaming industry." The whole situation is a huge mess as Ballou said that "a bunch of us are at GDC, but we didn't know we were even nominated so nobody was prepared to accept anything". This sounds like Square Enix and Deck Nine completely gave up on the game and decided to forget about it as if it were a nightmare. I don't know what kind of miscommunication happened there, but hopefully, it won't happen again, as it's just awkward for everyone involved and draws even more attention to issues inside the company.

@0waxwing Ueno park has half a dozen great museums in and around it. The zoo was closed last month but I think it should be open again now? The museum of the imperial collection (sannomaru shozokan) on the Edo castle grounds also frequently has amazing stuff on display

Started with interest in Graphic Design Ended up interested in Computer Science Unfortunately I invested less in math and more in Biotechnology & Chemistry, when math is a (ironically unnecessary) requirement for Computer Science degrees. I am Cooked!
