I genuinely hate seeing people directly whine at Tsukushi to release chapters faster in his Twitter replies or stream comments or whatever, people doing that make overseas/English-speaking fans look rude to MiA fans in Japan and I get crazy secondhand embarrassment

This is just my personal opinion as an American observing fandom in Japan! (Anyway, I really enjoy both shows, and Japanese fans of Western animation should consider watching either of them!)

It seems western properties which look very close to anime don’t do well in Japan (almost nobody here knows Airbender), but properties with heavy anime influence/references yet a western style (like Steven Universe) are warmly received and called ‘well suited for Japanese otaku’.
