I could see it looking something like this… Perreault - Zibanejad - Lafrenière Cuylle - Trocheck - Raddysh Kartye - Miller - Sheary Edström - Laba - Chmelař (I’m just sitting in a diner, killing time, so why not have a little fun…)

This would leave the only forwards who are set to dress and have played C this season as Zibanejad, Miller, Trocheck and Laba. I’d assume they stick with Perreault-Zib-Laf as the top line, then have Miller and Trocheck as 2/3 C. But we’ll find out for sure during warmups. #NYR

I think you all know me as level headed, generally positive and I do my best to analyze situations looking at all sides. This trade is a disaster and it opens the gate to a long rebuild and an era of not so good times for NYR.

I'm a HOF voter who saw Belichick as slam-dunk. I don't know anything about voting results, but if this is true, and we'll find out officially next week, the question is, how could this happen? Before I list possibilities, understand this: Belichick, Kraft, Craig, Anderson & Greenwood are competing for 1-3 spots, separate from the 15 modern-era finalists 50 voters each pick 3 of the 5 Between 1-3 make it (40+ votes needed for anyone besides top vote getter to make it) So it's a ZERO-SUM game, huge change made in '25: 250 total votes to go around for five candidates with a high bar for clearance Now we count the potential ways Belichick might get fewer than 40 votes even when 40+ on committee think he's a HOFer... •Let's say 4-5 voters who were strong advocates for specific senior players figured Belichick was going to make it regardless, so they funneled votes to competing candidates in hopes of boosting them over the 40-vote threshold; •Let's say a few voters prioritized senior players on the thinking that Belichick will be back in the room next year, while the players on the ballot this year might disappear into the senior pool forever •Let's say a few voters found Spygate/cheating disqualifying •Let's say a few voters protested new rules making coaches eligible one year after retiring instead of five Whatever the case, I would see this as a repudiation of the new voting rules implemented for 2025, not of Belichick or any candidate not making it. Since some people are saying I’m too negative here are some random positive thoughts I have about the Jets right now: - The Jets have four Round 1 and 2 picks and like $90M in cap space to replenish their roster. And I do think Darren Mougey has a good eye for talent. - The offensive line is solid with at least one potential star (Membou). When was the last time you could go into an offseason saying that confidently about any Jets O-Line? - Chris Banjo is a rising star and someone who will be getting looks as a head coaching candidate at some point. Special teams unit should remain elite next year. - A lot of young guys with potential received significant playing time on defense last year. It wasn’t always pretty, but can’t hurt that guys like Malachi Moore, Az Thomas and Jarvis Brownlee played as much as they did ahead of bigger roles in 2026. - If Jowon Briggs keeps improving, he’s a legitimate quality pass-rusher and starting caliber defensive tackle on a cheap deal. (He’s an exclusive rights free agent but it won’t be expensive to re-sign him on a tender.) - Jermaine Johnson should be much better with another year removed from his injury. I think the Jets will add at edge rusher too which should allow Will McDonald to focus more on simply being a pass rush specialist, which is his best role. - Garrett Wilson will be back and healthy in 2026 and I believe they’re going to upgrade the WR room. So Garrett, WR2 addition, Adonai Mitchell and at least one more addition has the potential to be a fun WR room. Mason Taylor should improve with better QB play which… - The QB play can’t possibly be worse than it was last year. Right? Right???
