Starmer: ‘We need to get to the root causes of extremism and antisemitism.’ 30 months of genocide and complicity are likely to have something to do with it.

Zack Polanski’s full quote on Jews’ “perception of unsafety” “I'm concerned about rising antisemitic attacks. We saw arson attacks on ambulances for instance and we know that increasingly Jewish communities are feeling unsafe. There’s a conversation to be had about whether it’s a perception of unsafety or whether it’s actual unsafety, but neither are acceptable”. It seems that last line - “but neither are acceptable” - is getting missed out by people who would absolutely agree with this, if Polanski didn’t have different politics to them.

By the way, if your first thought is “how can I use this horrendous act of violence in Golders Green to attack @ZackPolanski?” — the most prominent Jewish politician in Britain, then you’re a complete ghoul and you should be completely ashamed of yourself, if you even feel shame.

@PaulaCoyscot I'm curious about who the little fella in green is. A member of the public, I guess.

Apparently today is the day that a lot of people are learning that the law absolutely allows police officers (and, indeed, members of the public) to kick people in the head when faced with a potentially lethal threat such as a person actively stabbing people.

Oh come on, hardly. We know very little about the suspect other than he was known for having mental health issues. It's a terrifying assault on the Jewish community, and I understand very well the concerns and the fear. It's ok to hate what happened today, and to question the use of force.

@writehandmedia @MirabelTweets1 In any court in the land, or in the land of any developed nation, it would not even be a matter worth discussion to find the answer to be yes.

@SohoKenchie @MirabelTweets1 Reasonable use of force. I'm questioning whether, in this instance, repeated kicks to the head could be considered to be reasonable use of force.

@writehandmedia @MirabelTweets1 Incapacitated people don't cling on to a knife with all their might. What are you proposing - the police should just let him keep it?

@SohoKenchie @MirabelTweets1 He was already restrained, tasered, prone, incapacitated. The kicks to the head seem excessive, but it really is for the police to explain their use of force here.

@MirabelTweets1 Proper restraint techniques of a terrorist with a knife in his hand. Possibly other weapons. Go on then - explain your deep knowledge of the proper techniques to use here.

@doctoriaindarcy That he couldn't contain himself while interviewing the leader of political party should be his undoing. It was the height of unprofessionalism.

@SalfordMe2023 Actually, it's ok for ordinary members of the public to ask questions about use of force. All the police have to do is answer them.

I completely understand why the police's response to the knife man may be considered excessive by some. But you're wrong. Tasers don't incapacitate, at best they immobilise for up to 5 seconds. You can't take chances with a non compliant armed man who has already used his weapon twice, even more so when you don't know how many weapons he has. He's lucky to be alive, demonising the officers who risked their lives using non lethal force is something exclusive to the UK.

@metpoliceuk @SholaMos1 He was prone and largely incapacitated when your officers repeatedly kicked him in the head, so it's entirely reasonable for members of the public, seeing that video, to question the level of force used. Why not address that specific concern?

Our brave officers confronted a man they believed to be a terrorist, who refused to show his hands, who was violent, and who continued to pose a clear threat. Using only their training, courage and tasers, they detained him while he continued to try to attack and stab them. This took true courage.

Contemptible abuse of police power. Why kick him in the head several times when he’s already tasered & in your control? Should he not be alive to be brought to justice in a court of law for stabbing 2 Jews??!! Disgusting.

You absolute weapon. The bloke’s just stabbed two Jews, he’s still got the knife in his hand, writhing around trying to stab the officers, and you’re sobbing that they dared kick his head after the taser? “Incapacitated” my arse — he was about as incapacitated as your grasp on reality, you deluded, terrorist-sympathising race grifter. Officers are risking their necks against your imported knife-wielding mates while you sit there in your safe little bubble screeching “excessive force” because they didn’t ask him nicely to drop the blade. Prioritising the stabber’s human rights over the public’s safety — that’s peak you. Britain’s had enough of this poisonous drivel. Sort your head out before you embarrass yourself further.
