UK gas is four times the cost of US gas. There is no world price for gas by pipe. Domestic gas down a pipe is cheaper than imported liquefied gas. Why can’t BBC interviewers and government Ministers understand that?

Seek alternatives... Lord. In the past 10 years the UK has gone ALL IN on renewables. I don't understand why people/bots like you are even complaining - you're getting everything you want already. We've blown up the coal power stations. We pay massively extra to import LNG by ship. We pay the US for wood pellets. Rough is gone. All energy costs are loaded with insane amounts of tax for renewables subsidies. So what's the problem? Why are you still moaning?

@7Kiwi Let me get this straight, your solution to an oil and gas crisis is not to seek alternatives but to double down on oil & gas production?

Closing the Strait of Hormuz has cut off about 20% of global oil supply and there's chaos everywhere. Imagine if we were to follow the advice of the Net Zero zealots and Just Stop Oil?

Spoke with some friends in the plastics business. They are just about out of raw materials and cannot find new supplies as China restricts exports of petroleum-related downstream products. This is going to get much worse before it gets better.

British Gas, Renewables UK, Octopus Energy, the GMB trade union, and even Tony Blair agree we need to be drilling in the North Sea. The Jackdaw field alone has enough gas to heat 1.6 million homes. Ed Miliband’s obsessive net zero zealotry makes us poorer and more vulnerable.
The Telegraph@Telegraph

The head of British Gas has called on the Government to drop its ban on exploiting untapped oil and gas fields in the North Sea, saying the move would help ease spiralling energy costs ⤵️ telegraph.co.uk/business/2026/…

Saying all the oil and gas is owned by private companies implies that the state has no interest and they can do what they want with it Neither is true... The state earns significant royalties from the production and the products can only go where infrastructure allows So even if the state retained ownership of the oil once produced we can't insist on it being shipped to the UK if we lack the refinery capacity to process it So these ownership arguments are a red herring just like most of the anti North Sea arguments The fact is we have significant resources we could produce earning material benefit to the UK while lowering emissions yet some people are dead set against it. It's bizarre

Stop this. You KNOW it's nonsense Lower the wholesale price will not lower bills because renewables are guaranteed a price that is higher than the cost of generating electricity with gas So when you lower the wholesale price you will increase policy costs on a one for one basis with the CfD Trying to change wholesale price formation would be hugely disruptive for no benefit And if renewables are so cheap why is your green tariff higher than the price cap?? Seriously, you need to pipe down until you put your money where your mouth is

You are so wrong.. Under the Petroleum Act 1998 the state owns all the oil and gas. It's produced by private companies under licence 100% of the gas comes onto the GB grid because that's where the pipes go. It's not optional 😂 Most of the oil goes to overseas refineries because we only have four refineries left. Our refineries have to pay carbon taxes. Imported refined products do not and are not included in the CBAM, so are at a huge structural disadvantage Amazing how green lobbyists are putting out all this misi all of a sudden 🙄

He's got a point. This has been a multi-decade disaster. But I still don't understand why he was insisting on his Arctic carrier strike group deployment and why that apparently was given preference over the middle east at such a dangerous time. Did he think we needed to defend Greenland from evil orange man? Did that distract him from reality?

Never since our immigration crisis began has a white man stood on the beaches to shoot at illegal immigrants Never. Not even once. I tell you what has happened though, those illegal migrants raping and killing our women and children, ALMOST EVERY DAY, but they won't make a program about that, will they? The BBC is the most corrupt, anti white corporation ever, and you are not angry enough at them. DEFUND THE BBC 🚫

It was the Conservatives who enshrined the Net Zero by 2050 in law. No other country was stupid enough. It is welcome that the Tories have realised it is madness for a major economy to pursue rapid decarbonisation when our competitors still use fossil fuels.

It is a difficult thing to say your party has got it wrong. We all care about the environment but making our people poor while the world watches is making us a warning not an example. Kudos to @TufnellHenry for his bravery today.

A full national lockdown was declared on 23 March 2020. Six years on, it accounts for most of the things wrong with Britain: the rise in taxes, prices, national debt, unemployment, absenteeism, conspiracy theories, shoplifting, truancy, even immigration. telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/03/2…

'Clean power' doesn't exist. It is a technological fiction. There is today no replacement for the vast inertia provided by steam turbines that keeps the grid operating at the right frequency. Yes - batteries are good these days, and yes there are technologies to help integrate renewables onto a grid. But they are nothing like at the scale required. Why do they keep proposing this? Why don't people call it out?
