@Aleksan54641879@cogito_yuri I don't think there's even a default when it comes to how you approach fiction. One of the key factors of fiction is that everyone approaches it differently based on their own ideas and morals. Having said that; If you primarly consume taboo stuff (INCEST, SA) reflect on why lol
@jjongho7@cogito_yuri This is how you sound to me when you use the verb consume in regards to art. That aside, authors and themes attacked the most under the banner of antishipping are nowhere near taboo or dark - in fact the more wholesome a story is, the more it gets attacked.
@Aleksan54641879@cogito_yuri Using consume when talking about art is not the wrong term tho? 'To enjoy avidly' is one of the definitions? And can you like me an example of a wholesome story that got attacked (And i mean by the majority of 'anti's')
@jjongho7@cogito_yuri 'To consume' is a verb used to eating, implying that art can/should be approached mindlessly, the same way one approaches their favourite food, without thinking what we are reading about and why. 'Consumerism' only has negative implications.
@jjongho7@cogito_yuri The words 'consume', 'content', 'product' until recently has been only associatted with utilities, means to an end, and not art, which is an end by itself. From the perspective of leftist criticism, to be very crude, every time somebody uses them they wave 'I am stupid' flag.
@jjongho7@cogito_yuri Re: wholesome targets, the first fandom that become target of riddiculuously overblown criticism and actions stretching beyond just internet arguments was Steven Universe, whose author was portrayed as a nazi sympathizer. Every other extremely hated fandom was an all ages one.
@Aleksan54641879@cogito_yuri Im going to be honest, I highly doubt that steven universe fandom was the first fandom considering how long fandoms have been around before SU. But I also don't think these fandoms being hated to an extreme degree and "antis" are really related? Maybe they are but i thought of
@jjongho7@cogito_yuri The first antis started out hating fandoms or even just characters and ships with them, realized that they can get popularity if they cloak their hate in social justice lingo, and rolled from there. I saw it happen irl in mid 10s on Tumblr.
