@N0VAST4R_ I wouldn't worry, it's hard to imagine a more on-the-nose sign of a bubble's end days than a $300M Series A @ a $2B valuation for a launch startup with AI slop renders and not even a scrap of hardware to show off. $300M invested in SEO keywords lol

@BellikOzan @JackKuhr It's pretty clear that the only way Vulcan could ever seriously compete is by becoming a sort of New Glenn Lite, which would more or less amount to a total S1 redesign. SRB dependence alone appears to be a poison pill

@BellikOzan @JackKuhr Yep. Vulcan might eventually be able to compete with pre-competition F9R prices in a much narrower market segment a few years from now, at which point you really need to be aiming to compete with Nova/Starship/etc.

With all this talk of vertical integrating the stack and the value of rockets, ULA is still out there, in need of a culture change, and can likely be bought for a bargain. Huge backlog, working rockets, albeit no reusability. But many aren't ready for that conversation.

The fact that ULA has yet to be acquired after YEARS of courting is a immense red flag. If neither Blue Origin or Eric Schmidt were interested, despite having billions to spend in pursuit of a Falcon 9 competitor, the purchase, company, or both must contain insane poison pills

Launch rehearsal complete. During a flight-like countdown, more than 5,000 metric tonnes (11+ million pounds) of propellant were loaded on the fully stacked Starship and Super Heavy V3 vehicles for the first time

@HalcyonHypnotic It's a great sign but I would reserve extreme optimism until we know that the deck/QDs/hold-downs are similarly unscathed

I can’t even describe how much hopium this picture gave me knowing that just days before this a super heavy booster with much more powerful v3 engines, static fired at full thrust for 15 seconds and the trench still looks brand new. This pad will be able to do such a high cadence once it gets operational.

@LionnetPierre Also a slight chance that SpaceX is investigating the windward shield as a potential option for a leeward MMOD shield, which is required for the HLS ship. Mostly just strange, though! None of the above answers make more sense than general data-gathering

@LionnetPierre bit of a mystery tbh. I believe the general theory is some kind of thermal management experiment, be that protecting against reentry heating and/or insulating to reduce boiloff.

Booster 19 rolls out to the pad for its second static fire campaign ahead of Starship Flight 12. This booster is now sporting a fresh coat of black paint and appears flight-ready! @NASASpaceflight

Engines III. Routine inspection of interstellar starship engines, brief stop on its way to Pleiades open star cluster. Every few years I feel the urge to do some big engines, so here's the third piece in the series. Blender, Procreate, Photoshop, 2026.

I just realized that ever since SpaceX introduced the engine overlays on livestreams they haven’t had yet a single abort at engine ignition with Falcon 9. It’s crazy just how rare that is these days. It used to be way more common just a few years ago
