NASA's Johnson Space Center
The team behind the launch — focused and ready. ✔️ Inside Mission Control Center at Johnson Space Center, flight controllers supported today’s launch of @NASA astronaut Anil Menon aboard the Soyuz MS‑29 spacecraft. Teams monitored systems, tracked the ascent, and coordinated communication as Menon and his crewmates lifted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome to begin their journey to the International @Space_Station. Mission Control will continue providing real-time operations support through the crew’s arrival as part of Expeditions 74 and 75.

More and more often I’m seeing a whole lot of people thinking that Neutron is fully reusable and I think the whole reason is because the upper stage isn’t visible and they completely forget it’s there and it’s expendable

@WizZifnab This upper stage will give about 70-80% of the delta-v needed to reach orbit. Quite a lot of delta-v to just be a "kick stage". It's a proper upper stage that you just can't see. It's big and it gives a big boost.

@WizZifnab It's a wider and longer upper stage than the Centaur upper stage on Atlas V. It's nowhere near the size of what one would call a kick stage. Kick stage is more for something that's almost or already in orbit and needs another small boost.

@spaceaotearoa Reusability is reusability. If I throw away something, I ain't reusing it therefore it's expendable. It's a very simple and easy to understand term. It's not related to cost, it's related to use. You use it once, it's a single-use item. You use it more than once, it's reusable

@Alexphysics13 It depends how you view reusability, in terms of cost for medium lift it will eventually be best in class.

Messing around with the recent environmental assessment information published earlier today for ship contingency landing zones. If my extrapolation is near-correct it looks like the first orbital flight will go into a ~48.7º profile, only two orbits and it's down in just about three hours
