@romlib_ I don’t think we disagree on value, we both clearly value life and dignity in it. The question is simply should MAID really be an option to begin with in society or is it a symptom that we as society are treating the sick/disabled so poorly they would rather kill themselves.

95% of these are terminally ill and the rest suffered from incredible pain in other ways. Preventing their torture is a black mirror episode apparently because you read one story online about maid being improperly recommended. Let's ban all medicine until malpraxis is 0%.

@romlib_ I didn’t speak on how she got injured or if she had a disability. I am saying she had doubts at the end and guilt was used to convince her to move forward. Disabled people deserve to live and suicidal ideation in these communities are common and shouldn’t be held against them.

@romlib_ It’s a topic in Europe now because Spain just approved and enacted maid on a rape victim. With reports saying she had doubts and got convinced because “her organs already got promised to people who really need them” which is very morally dubious use of sympathetic guilt

I think there's going to be a trend where writers who have long loved the em dash will lean into writing it as a set of en dashes (--) to demonstrate that they're not using AI. To the non-discerning reader (ie the espn dot com audience of this article), any use of the em dash is an automatic signal that the text is ai generated.
