So many music tech startups pivot to building for "all creators" and it's a mistake. I get it: - "Music isn't big enough" - You need a bigger TAM - You need to sell it to your investors But artists aren't like "all creators". Music is different. It's distinct. Artists require purpose-built tools to address their unique workflows, goals, and challenges. Generic, one-size-fits-all solutions won’t cut it. And today, more than ever, you must show artists that you actually, truly, authentically give a cr@p about their problems. The moment you shift to building for podcasters, YouTubers, and influencers—chasing that TAM investors keep pushing—you abandon the product and mission that connects with artists. If you build for everyone, you build for no one. Have some conviction. PS: This goes for basically any vertical. I don't care what your eventual plan for world domination is, you better start with a narrow customer profile and solve the hell out of their problems first.

This is how you build a loyal AF fanbase. Fred Again hosted a secret listening party for 150 fans at the Los Angeles Coliseum. He found & invited the fans who went to his first LA show in 2021. He greeted each personally, handed out tea & previewed new songs. All 2 days before his sold-out 77,000 person show at the Coliseum. This is what community building looks like. Show fans they're seen. Show them they're valued. And create magical moments.

@AbelowRob Usually 80% me and 20% ai, I also have a few songs that are fully ai generated based on my sonic profile. I mainly create traditionally, but when I want to spice things up I’ll mess around with it. Example:

No one wants to listen to ai generated music. Unless they created it.

@jadynviolet It might look like settling or taking a deep breath. Hustle culture is insanity. We can grow in different directions. There are periods when we work on climbing the money ladder, and other times, we work on the mental health ladder. Both hands are needed to climb each ladder.

I can never understand people that just settle. Even if you are making 6 figures a month, what is the point of stopping. I feel like this life is just a game and the whole point is to keep climbing. I feel like there is peace and purpose in playing the game. Idk
