@SuldanMohamed_ Somalia needs a Supreme Court period. Disputes between the central government and federal states should take place in a court. Federalism without a Supreme Court is like playing a football match with no referees, of course itโ€™s going to devolve into chaos

Additionally, reports from Aden Adde airport indicate all flights to & from Baydhabo have been cancelled which is an attempted by Laftagareen to stop pro-FGS officials from travelling. #Somalia

With the majority of ENDF troops in SWS operating outside the AU framework, the request carried serious weight. But instead of backing Villa Somalia, Abiy reportedly did the opposite by facilitating Laftagareenโ€™s departure from Saudi Arabia and return to Baydhabo. A major political embarrassment for Villa Somalia. Even more striking is the fact that Laftagareen appears to have known about the plot all alongโ€ฆ and prepared accordingly. The attempted attack on Sunday ended in failure. Ethiopia has backstabbed Hassan Sheikh & now he is left with two choices: - All-out attack againt SWS - Concede political defeat Either way, itโ€™s not looking good for #Somalia with 2 months remaining of his term.

The belief that โ€œSomaliโ€ has always referred to a single ethnic group is widely repeated, but historical evidence suggests it may be closer to a modern political construction than an ancient reality.

BREAKING: MOGADISHU, #Somalia โ€” High-level political tensions in Somalia escalate as the "Somali Future Council" convened a high-stakes meeting at the Airport Hotel in Mogadishu, bringing together the countryโ€™s most prominent opposition figures and regional leaders. The gathering features Somali politics, brings togather former President Sheikh Sharif and former Prime Ministers Hassan Ali Khaire and Mohamed Hussein Roble. Critically, the meeting also includes the presidents of two of Somaliaโ€™s most powerful Federal Member States: Said Abdullahi Deni of Puntland and Ahmed Madobe of Jubaland. The meeting comes at a sensitive moment, as President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud returned to the capital today following his participation in the African Union summit in Addis Ababa. While the council has not yet released an official communiquรฉ, sources close to the discussions suggest the agenda is centered on the current constitutional impasse and election models.

Everyone pretend-freaking out about this tweet is ignoring the fact that it is a direct response to a Muslim activist troll who told New Yorkers that their choice was between having (indoor) dogs and more Muslim neighbors. So, I mean, there's that.
Cenk Uygur@cenkuygur

Imagine what would happen if anyone in politics or media said, "If they force us to choose, the choice between dogs and Jews is not a difficult one." Now watch what happens to Randy Fine after saying it about Muslims. Absolutely nothing. Bigotry doesn't matter, only antisemitism.

I am concerned about reports of a UAE-linked training hub for genocidal RSF thugs in Ethiopia with possible supply routes via Somaliland. These moves would be escalatory and further reason to designate the RSF as an FTO, bringing consequences for this regional proxy support.

The Republic of #Somaliland faces a serious economic threat in the coming months due to changes in the livestock trade with Saudi Arabia ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฆ during Hajj. Without securing a reliable alternative market, our livestock farmers and national revenue will be heavily impacted. Berbera has long served not only Somaliland but also three neighbouring countries, generating millions in revenue. The reported shift to alternative routes through Sudan and Ethiopia makes diversification of markets more urgent than ever. We hope President @Abdirahmanirro and his administration are working tirelessly to prevent this setback. Somaliland will not compromise its interests. Our resilient people have overcome many challenges before. We call on our partners and allies (UAE Taiwan and Israel) to encourage investment in modern slaughterhouses and to help open new international markets for Somaliland livestock. This is a long-term economic priority. #Somaliland #LivestockTrade

I am not so sure if you are vindicated, @RAbdiAnalyst . It is worth considering this matter again: Somali Wire, published by Sahan, which is close to you, wrote in an issue published 19 June 2023 based on NO evidence that โ€œโ€ฆ since late 2022, immediately prior to the outbreak of fighting, known AS figures made hundreds of telephone calls and sent financial transfers to Laas Aanood-based insurgents. Over the past couple of months, AS reinforcements, apparently affiliated with Abdi Madoobeโ€™s forces, have arrived in Buuhoodle from Bakool and Galgala. The total number of AS fighters in the Sool region is now plausibly estimated at 1,000.โ€ (see below). In reaction to that statement, I had several calls with US officials in the USA-embassies in Mogadishu and Djibouti end of June 2023. The high-ranking US officials confirmed to me that they had no knowledge about Al Shabaab troops in or around Buuhoodle. They confirmed also that they had no evidence of Abdi Madoobe being Al Shabaab. Morover, already on 9 February 2023, Al Shabaab had published a statement deemed authentic by experts like Christopher Anzalone @IbnSiqilli (who really has the necessary skills in contrast to many othersโ€ฆ) saying that they were not involved in Lasanod. (see below) Also, just basic wit would tell you that it would have made little sense for Al Shabaab to engage in the Lasanod war, because: 1) Those in charge of the fighting were Dhulbahante (and later also Majeerteen and Warsangeli) officers who had substantial credentials as anti-Al Shabaab figures; 2) Numerous Dhulbahante fighters who defended Lasanod in 2023 came from special forces in the south where they fought Al Shabaab before; 3) The whole political endeavour to get rid of Somalilandโ€™s occupation was to become part of the Federal Republic of Somalia; in this regard people in Lasanod were willing to come under the internationally recognised government in Mogadishu (which Al Shabaab has been fighting since many years). Finally, I met and interviewed Abdi Madoobe during my visit in the region in May 2023. During an one hour interviewing session, he explained quite credibly that he once was close to Hizbul Islam before the group was violently attacked by and partly integrated into Al Shabaab. In the context of the conflict between Al Shabaab and Hizbul Islam in the south a close relative of Abdi Madoobe was killed by AS. Abdi Madoobe left the south to the north around 2009 and established himself as businessman in Buuhoodle. In 2018, Abdifatah Mohamed Ali, a close friend of Abdi Madoobe, was killed in a suicide bombing conducted by AS in Buuhoodle (the first of its kind). Now tell me how much sense it makes that Abdi Madoobe and his troops engaged in defending Lasanod against the aggressions of the Somaliland army in 2023 were part of Al Shabaab. Besides, the UN monitoring group report on Somalia 2025 does not specify any sources on this matter. It simply states โ€œconfidential sourcesโ€. With all due respect (and I know that the Monitoring Group can get valid information), this seems pretty weak to me.

Rashid Abdi@RAbdiAnalyst

Three years ago, at the height of the Laas Anood fighting, I broke the story of Al-Shabaab's involvement in the conflict and specifically mentioned Abdi Madoobe as an AS commander with deep ties to AS Central in Jilib. The report was well-sourced and highly-credible. The backlash from some Somalia watchers/analysts, Somali Islamists and nationalists aligned with Mogadishu's destabilisation campaign in Somaliland was extraordinary. I received so much calumny and hate - the worst in my life. Guess what? The latest UN Panel of Experts report on Somalia for the UN Security Council now makes the same findings three years later and says exactly the same things I said in 2023. Just to be clear - I never spoke to the UN PoE and actually do not know them. VINDICATED !
