It's good to see how Mogadishu still has a sizeable army and it's using it to fight A̶l̶-̶S̶h̶a̶b̶a̶b̶ ̶. Not really. Actually, this force, reportedly including US-trained and Turkish-trained special forces, is marching towards a civil war against local government forces

BREAKING: Somali opposition figure Mohamed Adan (@farkeeti) has strongly condemned the re-election of Southwest State leader Abdiaziz Laftagareen, calling the rapid process “a direct assault on the constitutional system.” Farkeeti criticized the swift appointment of lawmakers, election of a speaker, and inauguration of a president within hours, describing it as unconstitutional. He also expressed disappointment at politicians who rushed to congratulate the outcome, accusing them of ignoring their responsibility to uphold the constitution and ensure national stability. Farkeeti becomes the first opposition member from the Somalia Future Council to reject the election, while other members have welcomed the result.

The last time the road between Buurhakaba and Mogadishu was ever used was over a decade ago because of the threat by Al-Shabaab terrorists. We all know that even today Al-Shabaab is blocking the Jowhar-Mogadishu road and is threatening movement on the Afgooye -Mogadishu corridor. How did Somalia forces from Mogadishu manage to pass the road between Wanlaweyn - Buurhakaba yesterday? What did Al-Shabaab terrorists get in return? Is there an agreement? On what basis ? Please @HassanSMohamud @HSNQ_NISA @SomaliPM @SNAForce can you explain this to the Somali people and the world? We hope the international community will have the capacity to investigate ! @US2SOMALIA @UKinSomalia @UNTMIS_ @CTP_Kenya @UN @antonioguterres @StateDept @RFJ_USA @USAfricaCommand @FCDOGovUK

CONFIRMED: Artillery weapons provided by Egypt were reportedly transported today to #Buurhakaba town, about 183 km from Mogadishu. The road between Mogadishu and Buurhakaba has long been controlled by Al-Shabaab, and for over 15 years Somali forces were unable to use it. However, today, after an apparent agreement with the militants, forces loyal to Hassan Sheikh Mohamud reportedly reached Buurhakaba safely and without incident. The question remains: what did Al-Shabaab receive in return?

French gov’t: —30-40% of Gulf refining capacity destroyed —11 million barrels/day offline —full repairs could take 3 years Under normal conditions, most oil infrastructure, including refineries, can be repaired pretty quickly. But we’ve never seen oil industry damage on this scale, all at once, since at least WWII in Europe. france24.com/en/france-conf…

Preliminary investigations indicate that the two operatives in Morocco were involved in funneling funds and logistical support to ISIS fighters in the Sahel, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Somalia. The mastermind is also suspected of plotting an attack in Spain. qna.org.qa/en/news/news-d…

Ministry of Internal Security SWS-Somalia
The Ministry of Internal Security of the Southwest State of Somalia strongly condemns the horrific incident that occurred today in villages under the districts of Waajid and Buurhakaba, where armed helicopters equipped with advanced weaponry were deployed. The Ministry expresses its deep sorrow that military assets and resources intended for combating extremist groups and safeguarding Somali civilians have instead been diverted to carry out attacks against innocent civilians. This appalling assault resulted in the deaths of 13 individuals, including 4 women, 7 men, and 2 children, who tragically lost their lives in a senseless act of violence. This reckless action clearly demonstrates the misuse and misdirection of military equipment, aircraft, and international assistance by the Federal Government of Somalia. Rather than being utilized in the fight against terrorism, these resources are being used to inflict harm upon the civilian population of the Southwest State. The Ministry of Internal Security affirms that this act constitutes a grave violation of human rights and fundamental principles of governance.
