Some people aren’t practical and assume they can “make it up later.” The reality is that many of them end up becoming leeches on society, with the rest of us footing the bill. There are straightforward national-level solutions to these problems, but Congress can never seem to agree on the means and methods. Healthcare is another major issue — it functions as a hidden tax on working people. It could be fixed, but that would require overhauling the entire system and eliminating the middlemen who drive up costs.

I pay corporate taxes — it’s not a free ride. You can write off legitimate expenses, but you still owe taxes on invoices you’ve issued even if clients haven’t paid you yet. An unrealized gains tax would create a nightmare for businesses, investors and everyone. Most people don’t fully understand how taxes actually work, yet they have strong opinions about business taxation. Taxes are one of the largest and most complex expenses a company faces. It takes a bookkeeper to track everything, a CPA to advise on compliance and strategy, and a banker who scrutinizes your financials before approving a line of credit. Running a business and handling taxes properly is anything but easy.

We do tax the rich. 37% over $640,600. I think what you’re referring to is taxing unrealized gains and corporations. I’m all for closing tax loopholes but when you start talking about tax code, everyone cries. Also corporations just pass the cost on. Also, the government fucking sucks with money management.

The government sets rental cost with the housing programs. This is the amount for a family of three: 2-bedroom voucher, the total subsidy amount varies widely: e.g., $1,500–$3,000+ per month in many areas (higher in high-cost cities like NYC, LA, or Seattle). Basically, this is minimum standards.

A 6-piece chicken tender order at KFC is now $20. No sides. No drink. Just the tenders. A 16-piece meal? Over $55. A bucket of chicken? Pushing $50+. This is supposed to be fast food. KFC’s largest stock holders are BlackRock, Vanguard, State Street and JPMorgan.

you buy a $500,000 house, borrow $400,000 and pay it off over 30 years the bank lending the money will make ~$500,000 in interest from money it created out of thin air meaning 5-10 years of your career were dedicated to paying interest 🤯 this is why financial institutions love real estate investors

Billionaires got dramatically richer as consumers embraced premium pricing on everyday basics. People now pay the equivalent of $15–$20 per gallon for bottled water that costs companies a tiny fraction of a cent for the water itself and just 8–35 cents per bottle in plastic packaging (depending on size). The same pattern appears with coffee: $6–$9 drinks that cost roughly $0.50–$1.94 to make. It’s even bigger in online services and digital products, where marginal costs are near zero. These are classic examples of how consumers are making the billionaires.

@Rob66733000 @thematrixb0t This is a highly complex issue, and taxation alone will not solve it. I believe S&P’s credit rating analysis and reports on the United States government address these fiscal challenges quite well.

@Akslapper @thematrixb0t Corporations have the $$, they repurchase stock buybacks >$1.2T/yr. Repaying the debt or balancing the deficit would have to come from corporate excesses, less stock buybacks. Every 1% in tax revenue is abt $50B/yr. 1970 was 20% more than today or $1T today effectively.

McDonald’s Price Increases from 2019 to 2024: Medium French Fry $1.79 -> $4.19 Big Mac $3.99 -> $7.49 10 McNuggets $4.49 -> $7.58 Cheeseburger $1.00 -> $3.15 Most of this is over a 200% INCREASE in price. This isn’t just inflation — it’s legalized robbery.

@Akslapper @thematrixb0t The rest of corporate taxes are borne by employees via lower salaries and shareholders (including retirees) via lower dividends and capital gains. Corporations don’t pay taxes. People do. There is no free lunch.

@WallStreetApes Oregon took the case to state court and obtained a court order. The bank had no choice but to comply. It appears someone stole her identity — likely to evade taxes, bypass background checks, or for other fraudulent purposes.

A woman who lives and works in California had $20,000 taken out of her bank account by The Oregon Department of Revenue She’s never lived in Oregon yet they were able to get her bank account information and take her money Oregon said the woman owed the money in unpaid income taxes and penalties, but she didn’t. She’s never lived or worked there She called and apparently Oregon has an address for her that was literally a public park They told her it would be 5+ months to refund her money. The woman had to get the local media involved to put pressure to make them give the money back faster Eventually, Oregon admitted it was a mistake Another state should not have access to out of state residents bank account information

Breaking Bad star Giancarlo Esposito says it's time for a "revolution," says some people would die, but "the rest of us" would survive. "They can't take us all down. If the whole world showed up... in Washington, they'll kill a 500, 50 million or however..." "But the rest of us would survive... This is the time for a revolution."
