What a historic night for the Cypress Lakes Spartans. Everyone in the Cy-Fair ISD community is well-versed in the struggles of Cy Lakes football. Aside from a few seasons where they narrowly missed the playoffs, Cy Lakes football is a story largely rooted in futility and misery. Until tonight. Tonight, we got a plot twist in the story. Tonight, we saw 15 years of that frustration, futility, and misery washed out by absolute euphoria. With the final playoff spot in District 16-6A at stake, Cy Lakes came out with a mission to earn that spot, and they accomplished that goal. That was a good plot twist, for sure. What an incredible job by everyone involved with Cypress Lakes football. Last year, the Spartans were in the playoff chase until the clock hit 0:00 in game #10. This year, they made the breakthrough 15 years in the making and they have earned the opportunity to play game #11.
