I donโt know why? I really did feel like a science experiment. I felt like a freak that my parents never breathed the same air, never saw each other, never touched. It just doesnโt feel natural at all. It took years and one perfect miracle later for me to understand that God intended me to be here just like everyone else. ๐๐๐As a donor conceived adult, you are 100% correct. I was raised by heterosexual parents, but I too was bought, sold, and separated from my parent/siblings. We grieve our family we donโt know. โDonorโ and โsurrogateโ are words used to dimenish the importance of the biological relationship between parent and child. The need is so strong to know who you belong to, and to have the missing pieces of your identity. Also, heterosexual parents can get away with lying so easily because they make you think that they are both your biological parents, but you question so many things because they donโt add up. When I found out, Iโll never forget that I was told that my donor โwasnโt a real person with a faceโ. How crazy is that?!?! This is what length they had to go to in order to live with this choice- they literally had to pretend the donor was imaginary. To hear my parent minimized as a faceless person, to think I was half of nothing- wow! It was so beyond words hurtful. Truly, I mean it when I say I, to this day, cannot put into words how painful that was.

I am donor conceived and was raised by a heterosexual couple. I want to take this opportunity to raise awareness that, regardless of our parentโs sexual orientation, this is harmful to us. We are all bought, sold, and then created with the intent to separate us from our own parent/siblings. All parties also decided to do this knowing we lacked basic human rights. We grieve our lost family and missing pieces of our identities, just as that poor baby is and will. Donor conceived adults are fighting very hard against the fertility giants to obtain strict regulations, and we are also trying to get supports in place to help future generations through the pain and trauma of this because we had no one to turn to. I just feel like it would be such a missed opportunity to not address that this is unethical across the board.

I am donor conceived and I can tell you that, regardless of the sexual orientation of our parents, we grieve the parent we werenโt allowed to know. We grieve the siblings we will never know existed. We are human beings, not commodities. This is unethical across the board. I have a study in my possession that hasnโt yet been published, but 98% of donor conceived adults indicated that this is unethical. 98% of people donโt agree on anything, but if you have lived this, itโs not at all surprising.

No one should be allowed to buy children. I am donor conceived and was raised by heterosexual parents who also bought me and created me with the intent to separate me from my parent (who sold me). They also made me knowing I would have less rights than other people, but that didnโt stop them. Like this baby, we all grieve the family we donโt know, the loss of our identity, the fact that weโll die never knowing how many siblings we had and if we unknowingly met any. Iโm donor conceived, and no, itโs not harsh enough. To, as a human, know that you were bought, sold, and then created with the intent to be separated from your parent/siblings is something that no one should ever have to grapple with. To know that, when making these choices, your parents knew youโd be born with less rights than anyone else, and still did it anyway- itโs very hard to comprehend. Whether we come from families with heterosexual of homosexual parents, we all grieve what was stolen from us at some point.

The worst part of this video is that it appears the baby is almost holding back his tears, this signifies severe trauma, pain too intense to fully allow oneself feel. I am donor conceived and I want to make it so clear to everyone that this is wrong regardless of the parentโs sexual orientation. All of us are bought, sold, and then created to intentionally be separated from our parent/siblings. Itโs extremely painful. I have access to a currently unpublished survey in which 98% of donor conceived adults indicated that this is unethical based on their own experiences. Also, we are all lied to and gaslit and forced to try to fit into a mold that makes our parents/other family/friends comfortable. Terms like โdonorโ and โsurrogateโ are used to minimize the importance of that relationship, to devalue our child/parent connection, in part to also make it palatable to people. For anyone who sees this, please be aware that donor conceived adults have been in David and Goliath battles to get this regulated and for the basic human rights we arenโt granted. We are trying to make this better for future generations. We could use prayers and support in the form of regular people just starting to bravely change the glamorized narrative.

No one should have the right to buy, sell, and then create us with the intent to separate us from our parent, and with the full knowledge that we have less human rights. Donor conceived adults have been fighting very hard to get regulations around this, but itโs an uphill battle against the fertility industry.
