@Axiasan In England a judge awarded a parental order to a couple last year for a US born surrogate baby. The London couple were 72 years old. We have written to @DHSCgovuk many times to alert them. Nobody gives a damn.

@SurrogConcern Apart from the atrocious use of surrogacy that is so irresponsible. He’s at that age having a child with only one parent and only family ties to him. I hope he has a supportive family ready to step up if something happens to him or that child will be alone in the world.

@SurrogConcern The slightly elevated risks of surrogacy is due to histocompatibility issues due to the egg not being genetically the surrogate's. By this logic, egg donations to infertile women should also be banned. Anyway, the risks remain very low + surrogates are screened.

As the Nigerian state visit is underway, a reminder: The UK rightly bans adoption from Nigeria because of fears of trafficking, coercion & abuse. Shamefully we make no such demands when it comes to surrogacy. @FCDOGovUK @DHSCgovuk

@JamesCoach1977 He’s doing “skin to skin”. It helps with bonding, but crucially it’s meant to be done with birth mother- hormones from it help her uterus clamp down, help her milk come in and calm baby’s heart rate. Skin to skin with father has nothing like these benefits for the baby.
