Prayers for 2nd Counselor Ben Phelps of the Grand Blanc Ward who defended his people like an absolute stud and took one in the abdomen from the shooter. He has a lifetime of my respect and lays in critical condition still.
Similarly, respect for 1st counselor Hougaboom. Precious reports confused their callings and names.
Also prayers for Bishop Schaube. I understand he has given out and executed or assigned 20-30 blessings already and his “head is on a swivel” ministering to his people “non-stop”.
I understand Elder Gong and Stevenson have reached out already and efforts of physical, spiritual relief, and counseling are being coordinated effectively.

The Big 12 is BACK — and now playing by a new set of rules
Something’s happening — and both fans and critics feel it
This isn’t a moment. It’s a movement
The recruiting headlines say it all:
Texas Tech lands 5⭐ OT Felix Ojo over national powers
BYU signs 5⭐ QB Ryder Lyons and #1 overall basketball recruit AJ Dybantsa
Houston secures 5⭐ QB Keisean Henderson
Colorado flips USC’s 5⭐ QB Julian Lewis
Kansas has Darryn Peterson, a top-2 hoops prospect
Utah, Arizona, & ASU are investing at elite levels
It’s not isolated — it’s a league-wide surge
And now? The Big 12 is QB Country
EA Sports just ranked its top 20 QBs in College Football 26 — and five are from the Big 12:
#4 Sam Leavitt – ASU
#11 Avery Johnson – K-State
#15 Kaidon Salter – Colorado
#18 Rocco Becht – Iowa State
#20 Sawyer Robertson – Baylor
Stars are emerging everywhere
And the foundation is deep:
K-State & Iowa State = culture kings
Houston & Cincinnati = new elite football ops facilities
Oklahoma State = a top-15 program the last 15 years
TCU, Baylor upward momentum
WVU back on track with the right coaches
UCF with all the potential, now just needs execution
Tech just played for a softball natty
Arizona State one 4th and 13 stop from defeating Texas and advancing in the CFP
This isn’t your old Big 12
Only conference partnered with ESPN + FOX
Sublicensing deals with CBS, NBC, and TNT
Visionary commissioner Brett Yormark, a commercial businessman who leads the league as a CEO
Unified. Forward-thinking. NIL-ready
Basketball dominance:
Kansas, Houston, Arizona, Baylor all elite brands
Houston coming off a National Title game appearance
Tech coming off an elite 8 run
BYU — #1 recruit and top NIL backing
Elite CBB environments:
Allen Fieldhouse, Hilton, McKale, United Supermarkets, Marriott Center, Ferrell Center, Fertitta Center, Gallagher-Iba, Fifth Third Arena, Bramlage
Four different teams played in the National Title game the past six years
Now, while the Big 12 rises, the Big Ten & SEC are scrambling to rig the College Football Playoff
They want:
4 auto-bids each
Just 2 for the Big 12 and ACC
1 for the G5
Committee-picked “at-larges” with strength of schedule bias baked into the formula favoring themselves
Why? Because they feel it
They don’t want a level playing field
They want the process tilted in their favor before the games even begin
Let’s talk money — because that’s their main talking point
Yes, the Big Ten and SEC make more from their media contracts because they have legacy viewership since they’ve been around longer — not some inherent superiority
Now, thanks to the House settlement, athlete revenue sharing is being standardized
And with NIL in full effect, every school can pay the same — if they choose to
So what does that extra TV money really mean now?
Bragging rights for fans who don’t see a cent. It’s not the advantage it was in the previous era
Athletes want:
NIL
Exposure
Development
The Big 12 offers all three — today
They see the Big 12 surging in recruiting, brand power, visibility, & player empowerment and they’re alarmed
They’ve long owned the perception narrative. Now that the Big 12 is stacking wins, they’re trying to stop the climb
This isn’t Bowlsby’s Big 12 anymore
This is a league with:
Deion’s media magnet
Basketball domination
Quarterback firepower
Unified leadership
Collective buy-in
Elite broadcast distribution
Big 12 fans should celebrate
They’ve been mocked, doubted, left for dead
Now? They’re thriving
Big Ten and SEC fans dismissiveness is just fear in disguise
What happened in the past doesn’t dictate what happens next
The Big 12 has the momentum, the leadership, & the vision to win now
The power structure is shifting
This is the Big 12’s time
They’re rising. They’re surging. They’re coming. This is a new era — and the XII is just getting started
As Commissioner Yormark often says:
There’s never been a better time than right now to be a part of the Big 12
