AOC: FISA has been a constitutional civil rights crisis since its drafting in the Patriot Act in the post-9/11 era. We have a huge amount of problems with warrantless surveillance and wiretapping against American civilians. And we need to do our job to make sure that their rights— Question: What about the consequences? I mean, your home state was hit by 9/11. AOC: Of course, we want to make sure that we’re prioritizing national security. But we also have to be a check on the use of that excuse of national security to invade and to violate the civil rights of everyday Americans who have a baked-in constitutional ability to conduct their lives with privacy and dignity.

AOC: President Trump has threatened to use the US military to carry out acts of genocide against the Iranian people, innocent civilians. Up until today, he has done this on his own, a rogue actor. But today we vote on whether or not he will do this in the name of the American people. Congress must vote to exercise our power to stop this chaos or whether we sanction it. And we must vote to restrain it.

AOC: Abuse always happens in the shadows. No amount of vouching for or knowing a person can negate a victim’s experience. As a survivor of rape who didn’t speak about it after it happened, I understand the pain and the weight of carrying something like that. This is why we have to center survivors.

A mom in Pennsylvania wants the same thing as a mom in New York—fair wages, safety for their kids, and the ability to build a better future.  Republicans want to divide us because they know that our solidarity and unity is our superpower. We won’t let them win.

This statement changes nothing. The President has threatened a genocide against the Iranian people, and is continuing to leverage that threat. He has launched a massive war of enormous risk and of catastrophic consequence without reason, rationale, nor Congressional authorization - which is as clear a violation of the Constitution as any. Each day this goes on, the risk and criminality of these actions escalate for our nation and the world. Moreover, this administration’s self enrichment, insider trading, and pure corruption off this chaos - from crypto currencies to predictive trading markets to bribe “settlements” - has placed the Trump administration’s pursuit of personal wealth squarely against the wellbeing of our nation and its people. All of these incidents, and plenty more, have clearly driven our country past the threshold for impeachment or invocation of the 25th amendment. We cannot risk the world nor the wellbeing of our nation any longer. None of these considerations should be partisan, but shared in good faith by Americans of all backgrounds who care for the safety and stability of the United States. Whether by his Cabinet or Congress, the President must be removed from office. We are playing with the brink.

This is a threat of genocide and merits removal from office. The President’s mental faculties are collapsing and cannot be trusted. To every individual in the President’s chain of command: You have a duty to refuse illegal orders. That includes carrying out this threat.

In a political career defined by grotesque statements, this president’s horrifying, illegal, and genocidal threat this morning is among the most dangerous and appalling. You can’t shout “fire” in a crowded theater and a president cannot be allowed to threaten genocide with the United States military. Threats of war crimes and disregard for human life must be met with accountability under the law. Trump must go—and Republicans, whether in the Cabinet or Congress, must join Democrats in using any and all constitutional powers at our collective disposal to end this illegal war and take the gun out of this madman’s hands.

That’s nice. Still doesn’t get her out of testifying to Congress about Epstein. We must also investigate the continued breaking of the law around the DOJ STILL hiding Epstein files from the public. This isn’t over.

Pam Bondi still has to testify, under oath, in front of the Oversight Committee regarding the Epstein Files. This does not get her out of that bipartisan, lawful subpoena. We will see her soon.

Yesterday I had the honor of filing the community signatures necessary to submit my candidacy for re-election. It was the highest number of signatures we have ever received across the Bronx and Queens. I am so grateful for the care and support of our neighbors. Thank you ❤️

The Israeli government is well able to fund the Iron Dome system, which has proven critical to keep innocent civilians safe from rocket attacks and bombardment. Consistent with my voting record to date, I will not support Congress sending more taxpayer dollars and military aid to a government that consistently ignores international law and U.S. law. Netanyahu’s allies in the Knesset just approved a $45 billion defense budget, and the Prime Minister himself also asserted his interest in withdrawing from the MOU with the United States in January. It is fully within their ability to fund Iron Dome and other defensive systems. Our allies who need our military aid must understand that we will provide it consistent with the Leahy amendment and the foreign assistance act.

Today, the FBI and NYPD disrupted a plot by a member of a pro-Israel terrorist organization to assassinate Nerdeen Kiswani. This is a reprehensible act of political violence. There is no place for it in our city nor our country. I am thankful Ms. Kiswani is safe and the assailant is under arrest.

@BigFish3000 Nice try. I took the Amtrak home. We tried to pay TSA almost a dozen times and Republicans said no every time. Then the GOP Speaker closed session last night and sent everyone home. Please Google what party is in charge of Congress right now. The answer may surprise you!

AOC and Bernie Sanders will not pay TSA agents but fly first class on tax payers dollars. Agents make around 45,000 a year.
