Matchmaking is definitely still bugged btw, had 4 games in a row in OCE today when all 3 members of my team are Central NA. Could be low pop due to insanely strict matchmaking parameters. If there’s 18k people on steam alone and I’m not even on Cryo this shouldn’t be a problem..

@Separer The only thing I keep thinking about is how I'm level 60 fighting with sticks and stones to get more sticks now. I have 0 chance of getting good loot anymore unless I get lucky! Yippee yay yippee I love fighting blue shields with my free kits because I have no other choice 🎉

I have a feeling people think the content creators saying the level based being strict is boring and bad for playing with friends are complaining about struggling. Most if not all of us dog walk lobbies when stacked. Stacking in pubs is boring we want to run weird stuff and vibe.

It's actually insane that I uninstalled tarkov like 3 weeks ago and reinstalled it last night. I absolutely hate the tarkov community, it's filled with people that I don't associate with in the slightest, but the marathon mm changes have made me reconsider playing it now :/

Whenever i complain about something in Marathon its because i love the game that much. This last weekend there was quite a few issues and that is why it might seem a bit more negative.
Im looking foward to see how the team keeps making this game reach its ideal form.

@3willowo @Skydoiron @esperavt My example was hyperbolic and hopeful, but there's also the other side where those level 20's run out of kits. Then they have to run free kits into purples and blues because they still "improved" by leveling up. So, then the need for them to fight newer/worse players arises

@Apollogan_ @Skydoiron @esperavt there are 0 timelines in which a team of green shield level 20s manages to wipe a team of lvl 200s with purples and golds, lets be for real lol.
on the other hand, they *could* beat a team of lvl 50s with blues/purples. Some gear disparity is still there. That's why lbmm is good

i literally queued with my level 2 friend like last week on my level 120 account and still got put against literal infants. you guys are not real. it's level based matchmaking. of course they're not going to put you into shitter lobbies this late into the wipe.

@imitamimica @Skydoiron @esperavt I agree, they likely aren't going to get a kill like that anymore. Wstr pre-nerf was the best shot at it happening tbh. I'd absolutely still prefer for them to try for that loot though because imo they aren't gonna get any better if they're only fighting level 20's as well

@Apollogan_ @Skydoiron @esperavt this is a strange mindset because big skill level gaps in games lead to a REALLY small chance of misplays
I could be crossfaded and still effortlessly crush people way below my skill level in most games and the same goes for people way better than me, that’s no fun for anyone

@KSkwalsh Tbh I think the current onboarding experience should be beginner perimeter. They extended that to level 15 iirc and that's enough time to at least understand some basic concepts of the game. There could be an argument for some kind of protection up to level 50 though

@Apollogan_ There needs to be an onboarding experience. You eliminate LBMM, you eliminate the current onboarding experience.

@Skydoiron @esperavt My point is more that they aren't going to cryo. They're not clearing a vault or compiler, they're probably just learning how to do outpost at that point. They probably aren't going to see any consistent purple weapons or mods until 30+ levels from then without keys either

@Skydoiron @esperavt I understand, but those level 20's aren't going to be able to get or see loot for a while otherwise. Like, if that level 300 team misplays then those level 20's leave with some of the best loot in the game! At level 20! That's the whole point of this genre imho.

@Apollogan_ @esperavt The skill is still random, bad players reach high levels. But yeah man let's put level 300 teams with cryo clears against level 20s so we can kill the game for good.

@glorpinity I feel like the thing being missed about the lbmm/sbmm argument is that, in an extraction shooter, level = amount of loot. Level 100+ players have access to loot that level 50's don't. If I kill a level 100, I can get that loot early. If I'm only killing level 50's what do I get?

I'm assuming they tightened the skill band last week since they had more of an opportunity with more players but you just can't play with low level friends anymore because they get abused by people with way more hours. I can stack and be fine but that also takes the fun out of it
