Some of you are really underestimating how much a game like Destiny costs to keep running, let alone a studio like Bungie with its location and amount of Devs. And that’s fine if you don’t! Just don’t talk about it like you do… And listen to those who work (or worked there) when they say the game has been struggling for a while.

Destiny 2 is also a lot more expensive to keep alive in comparison to Marathon. So while yes, for a long time Destiny was super successful, in terms of revenue and upkeep that success is long gone. And nowhere in my message am I blaming the Destiny community for Marathon’s “failling”. I am however, calling out the negativity and blaming.

@ArtdeckGames Correct, 2 things can be true at once. Destiny is a more successful game and marathon is awful. D2 community is not why marathon is failing, D2 is the only reason anyone played marathon at all.

Look I'm freaking sad about the whole situation around Destiny 2 and Bungie, but some of y'all really need to take a step back and ... breathe. Two things can be true at once, Destiny has a large and dedicated community, but it has also been struggling for the past couple of years. Leadership made the wrong decisions, not the devs. Marathon was never to blame, nor its community and actively trying to harm it makes YOU the bad guy. And if you are actively trying to rile up the community based on unverified claims then you are adding to the drama and problems. This will fix nothing.

Just because you don’t like a game doesn’t mean it is a bad game. It’s objectively a strong game in its genre. Also this might be a weird concept for you but game studios work on multiple games all the time, not only because it creates multiple sources of revenue but also because it gives their creative team a much needed palette cleanse after working on the same game for over a decade. But by all means, continue being mad and all.

@ArtdeckGames I hate Marathon because it is a bad game and devs were siphoned off from Destiny 2 for it, there is no denying that. It was a bad idea to cancel Destiny 2 to focus on an a niche game and if you're denying that then you're delusional as well. Two things and all that jazz.

Fucking hate the state of our industry man. So many wonderful IPs and studios gone to waste, and incredible talent and people losing their jobs/incomes. Absolutely insane.

Yeah this did it for me, literally had me sobbing the entire time. Amazing work Dev Team, Y'all got me good. This cinematic worked as both a sendoff/ending and hope for the future. (Made sure the screengrab was spoiler-free, cause you need to experience it yourself🫶)

Well don't mind me.. I'll be crying in that corner over there.

In the end of the day, we saw like a few seconds. I’ll hold my final judgement to the full reveal. Until then I’m freaking excited.

People really like to complain on here so I’ll just say this: I’m fucking excited for the remake and I really don’t think Nintendo is going to “Ultra Realistic” route as many claim. To me, those few seconds, remind me of the Wii U tech demo which perfectly suits Ocarina of Time imho. Also, one of the things I love about The Legend of Zelda, is that each Legend they swap around artstyles and try something new. I am excited to see more.

“Despite everything, it’s still you.” Man, jumping back in is bittersweet and also emotionally draining. Many fond memories, years of playing this game with people that are so dear to you. I was in Universitywhen I started playing & now I am making games myself..

@A_dmg04 It’s bittersweet, I am sad, I am mourning and afraid this is a definitive end, but I am also looking back with my friends to MANY years of memories❤️ This game meant so much to all of us and we will look back to it for many years😭

@Swarles12 Oh I know, they can definitely reference it. But obviously not going to be the same focus/storytelling as it would have been. Just sad about that!

@ArtdeckGames They’ll likely start with us going to Torobatl to take down Xivu and establish a foothold for humanity beyond Sol. Doesn’t mean they can’t touch on elements from the Fate Saga again though!

The more I think about it, the sadder I get we will not get a proper send off/ending to the Fate Saga. If/when Destiny 3 happens, it will obviously be a fresh story so it will be inviting to new players, and I totally understand that. But man, I loved Lodi and would have loved to explore more of his story and the Nine's. For now, I am excited to return on June 9th and feel all the emotions.

It's truly a lost art to just say: "Oh, you know what this isn't a game for me, so I'll play something else instead". No, instead they rather yell at everyone "why the game sucks and why everyone should not play it". Respectfully, get a fucking grip.

I should have worded it better because I am not saying (or suggesting) you're blaming the players, so apologies for that! I was speaking generally because that's been the main conversation on here. But it's a weird spot to be in for the community. Supporting Marathon doesn't guarantee a Destiny 3 and it also assumes Bungie/Sony would interpret Marathon's success as a reason to invest more in a new Destiny game. And to be fair, that's a pretty big assumption especially when execs are more likely to see Marathon's success as demand for more Marathon. Its one of the reasons why I don't think the community's push to show up on June 9th and signing the petition is performative. It may not guarantee anything (they know its a long shot) but atleast it shows there's still a demand for Destiny itself. Which is ultimately the point the community is trying to make. But I would honestly love to hear/read more from your side what you think would be the best course of action (and why)

@ArtdeckGames Im not putting blame on players here, im saying of the options to get to the goal you want there are more viable ones and there are performative ones. Im hyped for the last update but i also look at this rationally.

Wouldn’t it be better to show up for the game in active development?
