You will remember that I advised Zimbabweans in the diaspora to consider investing in student accommodation in South Africa because the returns are solid. The One in Stellenbosch has units for sale. The units are a bit pricey, but the rent is as high as R30,000 a month for a one bed, which tells you everything about the demand in that area. When you decide to buy, consider the overhead costs like levies. South Africa is serious about that, unlike Zimbabwe. Just as Britain has mandatory council tax, you must factor in all these costs before you buy so that your investment numbers remain realistic.
