The R&A and the USGA set the Rules of Golf around the world and the next edition will be published on 1 January 2028. In the meantime, the governing bodies have issued some Model Local Rules (MLRs) which only apply if a committee chooses to implement them in their competition. The MLR extending embedded ball relief will only be available for events covered live on TV.
