#isles fans really can’t resist having volatile, knee-jerk reactions to a quite neutral, low impact trades. Are we worse than we were two days ago? Seems like we have more competent depth and we still have generally the same picks/prospect pool. Why are we panicking?

Pretty impressive swing by Mathieu Darche in 24 hrs trading with his two crosstown rivals. Essentially gets Soucy, Palat and a 6th round pick for Tsyplakov - while also potentially improving his pick position in 2026 3rd round. Leveraging cap space to improve. 📈

Note on #isles two moves: Got love when people freak out bc they think it's their money. Two moves to help the team defensively and to achieve playoff placement. Replace the 3rd pick from Soucy trade. Pressboxkov is gone. Take the fucking win.

Isles picked a kid out of Russia at the cost of zero assets. Turned that into a third, a sixth, and 1.3 seasons of Palat, an experienced playoff pro who'll give you more than Tsyplakov in the short term. East is wide open man. Works for NJD too. Good stuff.

@stefen_rosner Palat is a bottom six checker whose offensive game has slipped badly. Not easy to get rid of 6 mill. He does not move the needle.

#Isles won't be worrying about next season's books at this moment, no need. Darche and Palat have a great relationship. If he isn't a fit or the math isn't mathing, they will figure it out. For now, Darche is, like with the Soucy deal, stabilizing his playoff-hopeful roster.

@philzfactz Did you look up Soucy via def zone entries vs him last couple yrs or are you just looking just at NYR car wreck season stats? Looked like specific items pinpointed to me

@BDGallof Darche goes out and gets two analytically terrible players but he doesn’t ignore analytics?

Sidenote Observation: And Roy can deny analytics all he wants. His GM sure doesn't. Coach and GM get analytical reports after every game and overall tracking. #isles

@BDGallof My friend Palat is not a good player anymore. I have watched a lot of him. Soucy actually played well for the Rangers. Hope he continues it.

@BDGallof There’s a salary cap. Should the idea that “it’s not our money” also play a role if Darche resigns Lee to a 10/70 deal? An extreme case to be sure but you get the point. I want my team to be smart financially under the cap so they can win. Palat owed a fair amount next year….

Fans and Twitter pseudo authorities are acting like the trade deadline is here. These are smart deals done early before prices get out of whack and allow for stability #isles
