In Japanese, the idea of reading a book all the way through is expressed with the verb 読破 (どくは). It literally means “to read something to completion”. It's a term often used for books that require effort or commitment. What books have you read to completion this year?

Please, read books. Not just captions, or carousel posts, or what made it to the top of your feed. Read books. Long ones. Complex ones. You cannot build a mind with weight on the back of social media ephemerals. Intellectual depth demands patience.

I tried having AI write one of my story ideas just to see what would happen, and yikes. That was awful. It was cliched, wooden, plasticky and all around terrible. Who would use these things and think it could pass for good writing? I may not be perfect at writing, but jeesh.

@BaaleofUI This is a phase I'm navigating right, I've been busy for so long, I'm trying to stop or reduce the activity of repeated work and produce real outcome and not just motion(activity)

Being busy automatically means being productive or successful. In reality, a lot of busy work is just activity like repeating tasks, reacting to distractions, or staying occupied without meaningful progress. Real productivity is about outcomes, not motion.

If I recommend a book and you don’t like it, I take that personally.

The worst part of finishing a good book is remembering real life has worse writing.
