Tell me something that many people believe but is actually very foolish.

¡Hablemos de libros! 📚 1. Última lectura 2. Lectura actual 3 Recomiéndame algún libro que consideres imprescindible, de esos que calan bien hondo. Os leo 🩷

I once had a friend who was fond of saying she had OCD simply because she mopped her room in the morning and in the evening too. I used to say “God forbid” on her behalf because I thought she was claiming a sickness for herself. That was before I actually took time to research and understand instead of relying on what I saw in movies. Because movies will show you Betty (not a real story) scrubbing the floor with a toothbrush, trying to get to every single spot. But OCD doesn’t just mean you’re obsessed with cleaning. You could be living fashionably like a pig and still have OCD. Why? Because OCD doesn’t mean you’re a neat person. It stands for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. And the simplest way to put it is this: your brain is flooded with intrusive thoughts (obsessions) that cause anxiety, and you feel driven to do certain things (compulsions) to ease that anxiety, even if it’s only temporary. For example, someone might keep having the thought, “What if I didn’t lock the door and something bad happens?” Even if they already checked it, the thought keeps coming back. So they go back to check. And check again. And again. And it isn't because they want to, but because the anxiety won’t let them rest until they do. That’s OCD. And it isn't about neatness, aesthetics or a personality trait. And please, if you're not of authority, don't say you have OCD. If you're suspecting you make have it, go see a counsellor or therapist. Don't self diagnose. These are serious conditions and not fashion trends And as for my friend who claimed OCD as a badge for being “neat,” whatever you do, don’t open her wardrobe.
