Would be good to see an actual example of something like this, because it's all theoretical. For non developers this might make sense, but when you know how these backend services actually work this is just a cop out The middleware ALWAYS has an open source version, and if it doesn't, fans can MAKE it. It is significantly easier to figure out the middleware than to reverse engineer the entire server software from scratch

「サービス終了するなら、オフライン版を残してほしい」という声はよく見ます。気持ちはとてもよく分かります。そこまで愛されたゲームだということですし、遊べる形で残ってほしいと思うのは自然です。ただ、オンラインゲームのオフライン化は、単に通信を切れば済むという訳ではありません。 これまでサーバー側が受け持っていた役割を、どこに持ち直すかが大変です。たとえば、 ・進行管理 ・所持品の管理 ・敵の挙動 ・報酬計算 ・乱数 ・認証 ・不正対策 こうした「ゲームとして正しく成立させるための仕組み」を、オンラインではサーバー側が支えています。これをローカルに移すと、今度はセーブ改竄、同期ズレ、復帰時の整合性崩れといった別の問題が出ます。 さらに、マルチプレイ前提で作られたゲームは、難易度、報酬、テンポ、イベント運営までオンライン前提で組まれていることが多いです。そのため、オフライン化では通信部分だけでなく、 ・ソロ向けのゲームテンポ ・AIによる代替 ・報酬バランス ・保存設計 まで含めて見直しが必要になります。 要は機能追加や変更ではなく、サーバーが支えていた成立条件を、別の形で作り直す仕事なになるんですね。 技術的に一応動くことと、商品として面白く成立することは別です。「遊べはするけれど面白くない」「ゲームとして破綻する」懸念が強いです。 もちろん、中にはオフライン化できたゲームもあります。ですが、それは最初からその可能性を見越して設計されていたか、比較的オフラインへ落とし込みやすい条件が揃っていたケースが多いです。 なので、後付けのオフライン対応が重くなりやすいのは、決して開発者の怠慢ではありません。通信処理を外せば終わる訳ではなく、世界の成り立ちそのものを組み替える必要があるからです。 #エンジニア　#ゲームプログラマー

@slasten3826 知らないのか？ 日本の漫画家は「雑誌に連載した際の原稿料」と「単行本の売り上げに応じたインセンティブ」しか給料が無いんだ。 もし海賊版が横行して単行本の売り上げが落ちたら作家は給料が無くなる。 日本はそういうシステムになっている。

@lawofcons Working out is good anyway because your heart will work better too. Better heart = longer life No need for Blue Chew if your heart is strong

@BarrellTitor44 Well, I probably burn ~300 - 400 calories with my workouts, but yeah that's not that much! That's why fasting also helps with the deficit. But, the workout also builds muscle and more muscle means you burn more calories. Re: skinny nerd v. fat nerd: The grass is always greener!

Whenever I get back to working out after falling off the wagon, even at 6 days a week with fasting, it takes about a month for me to start seeing results. That's a good thing for me to keep in mind.

iirc because when you grow muscle you make some that helps with protein production and that sticks around, so when you pick back up it's going to be faster than a layperson picking it up for the first time losing weight is strictly calories, and you don't really burn that much working out, which is why ozempic is so useful to people walking a lot also helps i have kinda the opposite problem, i'm a skinny nerd and I gotta eat or else I'm worried I might implode and just disappear in thin air

@BarrellTitor44 Both, really. Scale and mirror. But, some strength results come even faster. For example, I can already lift more and soreness lessens by week 2 or 3.
