One of the most shameless lies still told about colonialism is that European powers gifted Africa its roads, its schools, its hospitals. Shut up! You gifted us nothing. We built it, we paid for it, we bled for it. Those roads were not built so African farmers could trade with each other or so African communities could grow. They were built to move our minerals and our crops from the interior to the ports and ship them to Europe. Every kilometre of colonial railway followed the same logic: not to serve us, but to drain us. The hospitals were built to keep labourers alive enough to keep working, not because colonial administrators believed African lives had value, but because a sick worker interrupts the extraction schedule. My grandmother was denied treatment for her twins dying of smallpox because my grandfather was in prison for resisting colonial rule. She lost one of them. And who built any of it? Our grandparents. Forced, beaten, worked into the ground under quotas, mutilated when they failed to meet them. When someone calls that a gift, what they are really asking is that we thank our oppressors for the infrastructure our own suffering produced. We also paid for it in cash. In 1932, French colonial commissioner Robert de Guise imposed new taxes on Togolese people whose incomes had already collapsed by nearly sixty percent during the Great Depression. When women dared to protest, France shipped 174 colonial soldiers from Côte d'Ivoire to crush them. Girls as young as thirteen were raped and 12 protesters were killed. That is how the roads, the schools, the administrative buildings, the hospitals were financed: with our blood. Not European generosity. And when independence finally came, the colonisers left with a bill. They calculated the cost of everything they had built through our coerced labour and our taxed income, called it colonial debt, and demanded repayment from the very nations they had spent a century looting. We paid for our own exploitation. Twice! In Europe, when a government builds a road, no citizen is asked to be grateful. It is called public service. But when colonisers built infrastructure on our land, with our bodies, with our money, after killing and raping us, we are expected to call it the "benefits of colonialism". The audacity!

@hendrikotten3 Het probleem is dat docenten opvoeders zijn geworden. Waar zijn de ouders in het onderwijs? Die droppen hun kinderen om 7u bij de opvang, halen ze om 18u weer op en liggen de rest van de dag voor pampus... Onderwijs is een 24/7 taak!

De gemiddelde Nederlandse docent verdient inmiddels €6,800 per maand (ook basisschool), heeft een bizar groot en duur leger aan ondersteuners en samen leveren ze steeds meer analfabeten af. De manier waarop NL onderwijs is georganiseerd is rampzalig. Geld is niet het probleem.

They turned our genocide into their coming-of-age story. They lost the war and still managed to make themselves the main character. And then, with extraordinary arrogance, they put their soldiers' names on a wall in Washington and call it a memorial, as if the dead to be mourned were the people who flew 10,000 miles to do the killing. Where is the wall for our three million? There isn't one. Because in their telling, we were never quite real enough to mourn.

Bij al die kleine koninkjes en kroonprinsjes van hun eigen politieke kaste krijg ik aanloop-naar-WOI-vibes. Al die legerspel LARP’ende apparatsjiks die hele dagen over sand boxes met landenvlaggetjes gebogen staan (maar dan in het postmoderne format van lange vergadertafels met kannen water en schaaltjes koekjes in het midden, met rode lopers erheen en fotomomentjes achteraf), waar ze papieren afspraken voor zelfverdediging ondertekenen alsof hun gratuite postuur- en positiespel ter meerdere eer en glorie van hun eigen macht & peilingen niet tot real world escalations kan leiden (voor ándere mensen dan henzelf). In aanloop naar WOI dacht de Europese adel ook dat ze met wat bluf & hoog spel hun kaarten wel goed voor zichzelf geschud zouden houden. We waren immers toch uiteindelijk allemaal wel vrienden, soort van. De gedupeerden lagen vervolgens vier jaar in loopgraven in de Vlaamse Westhoek, zoals ze nu ook al vier jaar in het Oekraïense oosten liggen. It’s not a game, and we’re not winning anything. Die arme Zelensky moet daarvoor dag in dag uit op andermans sociale media opdraven om te bedelen voor geld dat de gemiddelde Europese burger in meerderheid niet aan hem uit wil geven, omdat er in eigen landen genoeg troep te ruimen is, huizen te bouwen zijn en voedsel gekocht moet kunnen worden. Maar Jetten is sinds zijn benoeming continu op rondreis om sterk en strijdbaar te lijken (in zijn eigen bubbel), in een gespannen wereldsituatie waarin Amerika en Israël het ondankbare werk doen, Oekraïners de prijs in bloed betalen, en DEN HAAG AL DRIE DAGEN OVER DOUCHEMUNTJES DEBATTEERT. Waar de HEL zijn de goddamn adults van onze tijd?

Update: Naar omstandigheden gaat het oké met mij. Net bij de politie geweest. De beelden van beveiligingscamera’s zijn veiliggesteld: lastigvallen van de vrouw, aanspreken van de jongens en de daaropvolgende explosie van geweld. Veel vertrouwen in de opsporing door politie.
