I cannot marry outside Islam. Because how do I explain to a non Muslim man that it's my right to request for breastfeeding allowance and my money is my money but his money is our money? How do I explain that I'm entitled to a maid if I'm used to it in my father's house, and it's Sunnah for my husband to help with the house chores? How do I explain that my religion permits him to Islamically marry another wife instead of sleeping around and bringing diseases home? How do I explain that the man leads the woman in prayer on days that they both pray at home? How do I explain that he has to teach our children Tarbiyah and walk our sons to Masjid? How do I explain that lovemaking is an Ibaadah, not entitlement? How do I explain things that are forbidden in Islam but normal in his religion like pork and alcohol? How? Just how? To save myself from these explanations, I'd rather marry within my religion, to someone who understands all of these and will make them easier for me.

My few days old baby woke up in the middle of the night and started crying hysterically. Nothing my husband and I did to calm her worked, she just kept yelling and screaming. I was so scared, being a first time mother and with no knowledge of what to do. I carried her to the sitting room while I rock and tried to breastfeed her My husband didn't come out of the room while my frustration increased with each step I took trying to calm her. Every minute that passed, I kept glancing at the adjoining door, hoping I'd see him so that he could assist with the baby and with every minute that passed without him showing, my frustration turned into anger. I started boiling and then I stormed into the room, I didn't read the room, I just yelled at him at how wicked and cold hearted he was!

I have thought about it and to be honest there’s nothing fun happening in marriage aside copulating to have kids. The real fun is in the dating stage. When you get married, the vacation/outings and all other funs come to an end. You become two individuals whose entire lives revolve solely around raising kids, nothing more. If you find your own person and you want to enjoy each other for life? Just date and travel the world till the end of your life. That marriage thing isn’t worth it.
