Freedom of information Request proves that TERFs (trans exclusionary radical feminists) or gender critical advocacy group campaigns have resulted in 46 deaths of children the UK since the puberty blocker ban. In February 2026 a set of figures obtained through Freedom of Information requests reignited the question the UK keeps trying to push away. What happens to trans children when healthcare is narrowed then delayed and treated like a political hazard rather than a safeguarding duty. Good Law Project says NHS funded National Child Mortality Database figures recorded 46 deaths by suicide of trans children under 18 in England between 2019 and 2025. It says 22 of those deaths occurred in the single year 2021 to 2022. The database itself warns that later years are likely undercounted because child death reviews can take time to complete. Those numbers sit inside a period of escalating restrictions and uncertainty. The Tavistock youth service was overwhelmed then politically targeted then closed. Public debate was dominated by claims of mass malpractice and mass legal action. FOI reporting later indicated that within 142 total complaints recorded across 2012 to 2022 only eight were specifically about gender affirming care being provided wrongly or inappropriately and none were recorded as being pursued via the law firm Pogust Goodhead despite widespread headlines about it. So one story said the clinic was a national scandal because it was recklessly treating children. The documented complaint picture presented through FOI looked far smaller and in some cases pointed toward frustration about delays and access rather than reckless provision. Then the policy direction hardened. NHS England removed puberty blockers from routine clinical access for under 18s and tied access to a research pathway. In late February 2026 PinkNews reported that the NHS trial pathway was paused which meant puberty blockers were not available for trans young people through routine care and also not available through the study route in the short term. This is the trap. Care is shut down in the name of evidence. The evidence route is not reliably accessible. Children still go through puberty on schedule. At the same time the workplace and public life climate has tightened. In February 2026 PinkNews reported a High Court ruling around a challenge to an EHRC interim update on single sex spaces. The judge stated that day to day toilet use should be guided by common sense and benevolence rather than rigid ideology and described policing every possibility as divorced from reality. Sex Matters intervened in that case and pushed for rapid implementation of a strict reading of the Supreme Court ruling.

I have just left Parliament after the puberty blockers debate. Firstly, thank you to each and every one of you who signed my petition and made this debate possible. There were some incredibly impassioned speeches against the trial and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t feel emotional at times. The most important statement actually came from an MP who supports the trial, when she said, without a hint of irony: “We must not sacrifice vulnerable children on the alter of ideology.” I couldn’t agree more. That is why we should not allow a single child to ingest this poison. Rest assured, the debate was just one part of a much bigger plan. Our Judicial Review continues in haste. If this government does not cancel the trial voluntarily, we will legally compel them to cancel it.
