my question is, while it is difficult as is and streaming only plays pennies to the dollar, and the main source of income would be touring...
how would this help the average working musician benefit from this?
what stops corporations from exploiting this and imitating artists and cutting out the middle man completely?
you speak from this place of compassion yet feed into a larger machine that will dwarf the working musician under the guise of providing a tool that all will have access to...

I grew up singing. I sang everywhere I went, I wrote songs in my diary, I told teachers that I wanted to be a singer & songwriter when I grew up. But wanting to be a musician in 2006 required resources that a low-income family didn't have. My parents couldn't afford to get me any instruments. They couldn't pay for music lessons. They couldn't get me into studios. A dream I had became just a memory, until now. I am beyond proud and honored to get to work at a company that is enabling music creation for everyone. For the 13 year old kid in their bedroom who dreams of being a musician, you can be one. For all of the professional artists, you can do more of what you love. I really wish Suno existed 20 years ago when I was a kid in elementary school, showing strangers songs I wrote with no way to produce them. But I'm really, really happy that it exists today, for all of the other kids who might need it. We are still just getting started :)

If you’re upset about a man archiving someone’s career, I encourage you to do it yourself instead of being upset. So much information gets lost and archivists do thankless work to preserve history. I’d rather it be released than gatekept. A lot of this info is publicly available

hi, i figure this is about me & i should probably address this anyway so:
i'm publicizing this archive bc i'm a longtime diehard D'Angelo fan & have already privately had a digital & physical archive for years. there is a lot of rare and difficult to find music, interviews, photos etc online but nowhere to find them all in one place. i want to ensure all of this art is accessible and gets properly preserved in a way that the general public can navigate.
also: yes my account is monetized but the money i receive is going back directly into archiving D'Angelo (and other artists) material (magazines, VHS tapes, etc).

reading about Chinese influence on Japanese ink paintings in feudal Japan
the artist Sesshū Tōyō worked in a Buddhist temple in Kyoto supported by Akishaga Shogunate,
but got funding by a wealthy warrior clan that did trade w/ the Ming Dynasty to travel in China for 3 years to explore Chinese art/Chan Buddhism,
which greatly influenced his style upon returning to Japan

A 12-meter “Sexy Robot” sculpture by Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama has landed in Shenzhen’s MoCAUP (深圳市当代艺术与城市规划馆) plaza. Once featured in Dior’s 2018 show in Shanghai, the sculpture now anchors Sorayama’s largest solo exhibition in South China — “Light, Transparency, Reflection”.
