@EthanAfro @BowlerStuff @TrainLifeGB People make the same argument about the 555s and 599s. The 555s are failing because the lads at Gosforth aren't as experienced with maintaining them. Will be the same with the 701s. Eventually, that completely flips. Is just a matter of time.

@TrainLifeGB @EthanAfro Reilability may be a concern for the 701s but I doubt the now elderly 40-45 year old 455s are much better. Not to mention how lots of rolling stock is quite unreliable when new, 745s/755s, 442s and 458s to name 4

@EthanAfro The point? 455s are still more reliable. We'll see if one breaks today, shall we? And the 455 breaking down every single day is overreacting 🙄.

@TrainLifeGB The logic is understandable though, would you rather run a more expensive fleet of 450s or hold onto recently refurbished stock and pay less in leasing costs?

458s replacing some 450s? HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA- no. The smarter option is to retain all 127 450s and 45 444s rather than have, idk, 99 450s, 45 444s, and 28 458s. It probably works out even more expensive. You can dream about it, though!

1P38 delivered on time to Waterloo and it’s now time to turn back and go home. 444020 & 444018 are boarding under the lovely sunshine over P13 as we await time and signal to start the journey fast to Portsmouth Harbour as 1P39. I’ll be relieved at Guildford as my day ends there.

Just received word from the palliative care team at Frimley that my Grandad has just passed away peacefully. He was in hospital for the last four days battling infections, septicemia, kidney failure, and a non-existent blood pressure. I’m glad that he wasn’t in any pain. 1/2

No matter how long you live somewhere, there's always little gems to be found & I've found a gorgeous little cafe hidden off the town centre in some glorious surroundings. I'm by no means religious, but you have to be in awe at the architecture of churches

Exciting stuff! It’ll be interesting to see how much traffic East West Rail gets with only Phase 1 - I can’t see there being huge demand between Oxford and Milton Keynes, but I will gladly be proved wrong!

@GwVillager Noticed its a problem with several London Termini to some degree. Chiltern does it as the norm, LNWR do on certain services and Grand Central also do. No clue about any others though

One weird North/South divide thing I’ve noticed is that, in the North, train doors are usually kept locked until right before departure, so you get huge crowds building up on platforms. Why is this? It’s annoying, causes delays, and doesn’t really happen down South.

Well this was a surprise. Didn’t expect DE20020 to be here especially with its blinds still fitted. Can only imagine it’s a meal bus for 85/371 drivers. Remember when there used to be a London United VA here as a meal bus.
